Placing his hand on my face, I tilt my head back and gaze into his eyes as he speaks low and husky.

“There’s very little I care about in life, Angel. Music and you. If anybody tries to take either of those things from me, I’ll destroy everything in my path. Any person that attempts to keep you from me, dies.”

My heart pounds in my chest from his words, and of course, I know from what my best friend told me exactly what Jett is capable of.

“This goes both ways, Jett. I will not tolerate cheating.”

I’m not going to murder someone over it but no matter what he says, it’d be over. I won’t have a man making a fool of me. I’m either enough or I’m not.

His face registers amusement.

“Angel, there’s no other pussy I want. This dick is exclusively yours.”

Do I believe him? Not entirely. I am well aware of his reputation. All of them really.

“I might need to tattoo my name on it to remind you.”

Jett chuckles softly.

“You want your name on my cock, baby? I’m okay with that.”

My eyes widen in response because I was joking but clearly he’s not.

“You’re insane, Jett.”

He nods slowly in clear agreement.

“Yes, Angel, I am. You are my greatest obsession and I have no issue putting your name on my dick or anywhere else. I would never cheat on you. You’re mine and I’m yours.”

Emotion swells in my throat, nearly choking me. I want to believe his words, but it’s difficult. We both have our issues and mine are a secret. The press has questioned my weight gain endlessly. The tabloids are full of speculations, but no one knows the ugly truth. No one but me. It’s only a matter of time before it’s discovered because that’s the thing about secrets. They’re always revealed eventually. When those prison doors opened, it’s like my vault of secrets were sitting there just waiting to be exposed. And when Jett finds out, I’m not sure where that will leave us.

Chapter Nine

JETT

What in the fuck was I thinking agreeing to this secretive bullshit? I want everyone to know she’s mine. Her reasons made complete sense, which is why I agreed to it, but watching her move to the music and not being able to pull her into my arms is fucking killing me. Every once in a while I catch her staring at me, and she blushes like I can read her dirty little thoughts.

I’ve spent the evening playing music so Jagger could spend time with his bride, but when I spot Hendrix talking to Mia, I come close to abandoning the ship and setting fire to the entire thing. If he knew she was mine, he wouldn’t waste his time. All of my bandmates know I’m the craziest. In music, they say it’s always the drummer, but Dark Notes are the exception. If he actually puts his hands on her or vice-versa, it’s going to get bloody. They are my brothers, all of them, but when it comes to Mia, no one is safe.

I mouth ‘good girl,’ to her when she catches my heated gaze and turns away from Hendrix. I’ve never been happier than I am when it’s the final song of the night. Jagger owes me for this. I move quickly to get off the stage and make it to Mia’s side .

Taking her arm, I say, “I’ll make sure you get to your hotel room.”

McKinley smiles at me like I’m a fucking hero, and throws her arms around my neck.

“Thank you, Jett. No drugs though, okay?”

I glance at Jagger, and he nods, so I play the role.

“Of course not,” I assure her.

If he wants to lie to his new wife, that’s on him, but Mia knows the truth. She may not always like it, but I won’t fucking sugarcoat anything.

Mia and McKinley wander off as Jagger glares at me.

“Just don’t hurt her, alright?” He warns as he glances over at his new bride. “I want my wife to be happy, and her best friend is a big part of that.”
