“I thought you’d be on her side,” I grumble.

“We are,” Ora replies, handing Zade over to me. “The only thing saving you is that you claimed her at the table before it all went down.”

“I heard you’d already told Prez to order the cut. How did you know?”

She studies me, smiling when Zade cuddles against me. “I knew you’d finally get around to admitting that your marriage wasn’t just in name. Although the number of times you said that you should have had it printed on your forehead.”

“He protested a little too much, didn’t he?” Lu adds, pulling out the chair next to me and taking a seat. “She is perfect for you, Suit. Everyone can see it except you.”

“Plus, if it weren’t you, someone else would have snapped her up.” Ora smirks, especially when I grit my teeth.

“No one else would have dared touch her,” I growl.

“Every time you went into that pole room while ignoring her, I wanted to throw something at you. War said I wasn’t allowed to.” She sounds saddened by that fact.

“You know that’s just where I sit and have a drink, right? It’s like being in Club Cobra. I wasn’t fucking any of them. I haven’t since I’ve been married. I might not have made it seem like it, but those vows did mean something to me. She always meant something to me.”

“Good,” Ora replies, nodding her head in approval. “Now tell her that. On your knees.”

“I will.”

“And that Jade chick?” Lu presses.

“I told her never to come back here,” I admit. “No one is to let her in. She’s my past, and I don’t want her anywhere near my future.”

Her cheating on me did mess with my head, but I need to let it go now.

Elena is nothing like Jade.

Finally, she texts me, saying she will come to the clubhouse to chat, but then she is going back to Alexei’s.

“She’s coming here,” I announce.

Suit

I can come pick you up now.

Elena

No, it’s okay. Alexei’s driver is bringing me.

Disappointment fills me.

Suit

Okay, I’ll see you soon.

I update Prez, and he says Elena can come in, but the car can stay outside the gates. So much for this alliance with the Bratva. There is zero trust between us, and I don’t see that changing much after this.

I stand out front, waiting for her, the bouquet of pink lilies in my hand. I remember hearing her tell Ora one day that they were her favorites.

I don’t know how long I stand there waiting, but I’m filled with relief when she gets out of the car and walks over to me. She looks beautiful, dressed in jeans and a white T-shirt.

“Princess,” I whisper, pulling her into my arms and kissing the top of her head. “Thank you for coming.” I hand her the flowers. “These are for you.”

“Thank you,” she replies, smelling them.

“Come on, let’s go inside.” I lead her to my room and lock the door behind us. She puts the flowers on my side table and sits on the bed.
