“You have no idea,” I mutter, and she laughs loudly. A few of the men, including War, look over at us. “He’s also really nice.”
“He is,” she agrees, her eyes going back to Suit. “But so is Suit, usually. I don’t know why he’s trying to keep his distance from you. He did mention to me once that he had an old lady before. Maybe it has something to do with that.”
“I had no idea,” I admit, wondering what happened to her. Taking an old lady here is like taking a wife, so he must have really loved her.
“Yeah, he doesn’t talk about it a lot. That was the only time he mentioned it.”
“He just doesn’t want to be married to me,” I whisper.
“Maybe just give him the space he wants. He will come around. And if he doesn’t, Blade is a hell of a backup prize.”
When Suit and Angel have their turn in the ring, I can’t look away. I want to lick every rippling, corded muscle and drop of sweat off his body. Suit is incredible. He moves too effortlessly, quickly, and smoothly.
After their rounds are done, he looks over at me. Zade is now happily in my arms, and Suit’s slate-gray eyes soften before he looks away.
After having a taste of him, it’s going to be hard to pretend that I don’t want him.
But maybe Ora is right.
He wants space?
So I’m going to give it to him.
SUIT
After a long day in the office, I step back into the clubhouse, rolling up my shirt sleeves to my forearms. I fucking hate that all day I was wondering what Elena was doing—again.
It’s been two weeks since I took her virginity and started putting distance between us, fighting not to show up at her door in the middle of the night, wanting nothing more than to taste her sweet pussy again. But I can’t let myself get attached.
Jade showed me how much women can’t be trusted, and I don’t want to change my lifestyle.
Elena has surprised me with how she’s fit in at the club. Hell, even Prez likes her, but that doesn’t mean I’m ready to make this marriage real.
“Suit!” Amy yells excitedly, running up to me and wrapping her arms around my waist. “Can I help you release any tension? I know when to keep my mouth open and when to keep it shut. I want to play with you and Angel.”
It’s been two weeks since I’ve gotten any action, which is the longest I can ever remember going without since I patched into the club. I’m usually one of the first to jump at fucking the new women, but it just doesn’t feel right. I’m about to push her off me when Elena comes out of the kitchen with Dove and Rider, Lore and Atiana’s kids. Dove is on her hip, while Rider is walking beside her.
Hurt flickers on her face before she can mask it.
Rider, who is just like his father, studies me. “Uncle Suit, aren’t you married to Auntie Elena? I was at the wedding, you know. So why are you with this lady?”
Moving away from Amy, I kneel in front of Rider. “Yes, I am married. I was just talking to Amy.”
Rider narrows his violet eyes and crosses his arms on his chest. “If my daddy talked to another woman like that, my mama would kick his ass.”
Elena covers her lips with her palm, and I know she’s getting a kick out of this. “Come on, Rider. Let’s go find your mom. Let Uncle Suit do whatever he wants to do.”
Her indifference hurts, but it’s what I wanted, right?
Rider points two fingers at his eyes, then back at me. The universal sign of ‘I’m watching you.’
The world is way too small for two Lores.
Scrubbing my hand down my face, I leave Amy behind and follow after Elena. She heads outside to the pool, where Atiana is sitting with Lore. Elena hands her Dove, and then says something to her I didn’t hear. Then, she walks past me without so much as a look.
“Where is she going?” I ask Lore, but it’s Rider who replies.
“She’s your wife, shouldn’t you know?”
