And Suit.

While we have dinner, I watch him out of the corner of my eye. He barely looks my way. When we are excused from the table, I’m on my way back to my room when I realize I forgot my Kindle. It’s still sitting on my chair. I slowly head back down, hoping they’ve moved to my father’s office, but when I hear their voices, I know I’m out of luck.

“I’m not marriage material,” one of the men announces in a deep, sexy voice.

The other men softly laugh.

“Prez, you’re single. Why can’t you do it?”

“He wants you, Suit. Probably because you’re the fancy lawyer, and if you’re married into his family, you can’t go against him in court.” A pause, and then, “You going to take one for the team or what?”

So Suit is the one getting married. I absently rub my chest, which, for some reason, is tightening. Why couldn’t it have been one of the other men?

“Fuck, you’re serious?”

Another slight pause.

Then, “You’ll sell my body for some guns?”

More laughter.

I cover my mouth with my hand. Now he knows how we feel.

“Fuck!” I hear him say, full of resignation. He’s going to do his duty, just like the rest of us. “It’s just in name, right?”

Well, good luck to my sister.

“Yeah, we need this deal, brother.”

They always do.

“Okay. I’ll take one for the team, but I’m never letting anyone forget about it. He didn’t say which daughter.”

I hold my breath. I couldn’t walk away now, even if I wanted to, their words holding me captive. As far as I’m concerned, if they’re talking about me, it’s not eavesdropping.

“Ask for the hot bitch. She couldn’t stop looking at you.”

My stomach starts to knot.

“I might not get a choice. He might just tell me which one I get,” Suit mutters, sighing.

Which one he gets? Like he’s talking about a present.

“Yeah. Katerina would fit in at the clubhouse. Elena, can she even fucking talk? She looks like a nerdy virgin, and she’s definitely not going to be able to handle my lifestyle. She’s not my type.”

She’s not my type.

I know his words shouldn’t hurt, but they do. In fact, I start to feel sick. The first time a man has caught my attention, and, of course, I’m not his type.

I’m nobody’s type.

But this is the only time I’ve actually cared.

“Go for the one that is then,” one of them replies nonchalantly.

You know what?

Katerina can have him.
