They stopped in front of her hotel room. He gave her a chaste kiss on the cheek. “Sweet dreams, Charlie.”

He disappeared into his room after that.

What the hell?

Charlotte went into her room and fell back onto the bed. For the life of her, she had no idea how she had ended up in bed alone while Rafe was next door in the other room.

THIS WAS UTTER bullshit.

Charlotte was on the other side of the wall, yet he was in his bed.

Alone.

Throughout the night, he’d relished in how good they were together. Her cozying up to him on the gondola ride had felt right. Watching her giddiness over the light show had made him smile. She had been like a kid on Christmas. But when they got in the hotel, it was a distinct reminder to him this was all just a fantasy world.

When they got back to San Francisco after this trip, it was back to normal.

However relative his normal now was, it didn’t include her like it used to.

Was he really just going to let her slip away from him?

Again?

No fucking way.

Rafe pulled on a pair of sweatpants, not bothering to grab a shirt, and stepped into the hall. He banged, rather unceremoniously, on her door. They were fooling each other about what this trip meant to them, but like hell was he sleeping alone.

She opened the door wearing one of his t-shirts.

“You stole my clothes.” It was the first thing he noticed.

She took a minute to gaze over his muscular chest. “No, you left your clothes in my bedroom. Possession is nine-tenths of law and all.”

“You brought my shirt with you on vacation?”

She stomped her foot, and Rafe couldn’t help but laugh.

“It’s soft and…I don’t know,” she stammered.

“Invite me in.”

“I didn’t realize you needed the invite.”

Rafe’s hand swiftly went around the back of her neck, pulling her close to him. “Say it. Tell me you want me. Say this isn’t a mistake.”

Her blues eyes darkened with need. “I have always wanted you, Rafe. It was never a mistake. Not once.”

He pushed into her room, then kicked the door shut behind him. He tugged off her shirt, needing to see her naked. Charlotte didn’t waste a minute jerking off his pants.

Charlotte reached for him, pulling him on top of her as they took a few more steps and crashed onto the bed. Their lips met with an uncontrollable need, smashing again one another. Their tongues searched for more, swiping back and forth, in a demanding kiss.

“Fuck. I’ve missed you,” Rafe groaned into her ear. His right arm held up his weight while his left hand caressed down her body. He skimmed all over her until he cupped her between her legs. She was already wet for him, which only turned him on more.

He pushed one finger inside her, and Charlotte bowed off the bed. His thumb rubbed in circles over her while he slowly made a come-hither motion inside her. Rafe was an expert at what her body needed. In seconds, she was trembling beneath him.

“Rafe,” she moaned as she started to clamp around him. “Oh my god.”

“I haven’t stopped dreaming about you,” he told her in between desperate kisses while she orgasmed.
