Santo’s expression changes.

“I’m fine.”

“You don’t look fine.”

“It hurts. That doesn’t mean—”

Another one hits.

She folds forward as much as her belly allows.

Santo catches her.

“Nope.”

“Santo.”

“We’re going to the hospital.”

Her eyes widen. “I don’t think—”

“I do.”

Elena starts toward her. I catch her hand gently before she gets more than a step.

She looks at me.

I bring her knuckles to my mouth.

“Princesa, Santo has her.”

“But—”

“I know.”

Her eyes move between Vasilisa and the monitor.

Too much is happening at once.

Too fucking much.

“Santo’s taking Vasilisa to the hospital. Your brother, Korsakov, and I need to figure out what we’re doing next.”

I glance at Adriana.

“Can you take her upstairs?”

“I’m not going anywhere,” Adriana says immediately.

Angelo closes his eyes for half a second.

“Tesoro.”

“My sister is missing.”
