Elena gasps beside me.

“It’s done,” Santiago says. “I’m out now.”

“Who did you give her to?”

He doesn’t answer.

“Santi.”

“I’m sorry, Ayla.”

“Don’t you fucking hang up—”

The call ends.

Silence fills the room.

I stare at the phone in her hand.

He handed her over.

Tiago wasn’t taking Valentina somewhere.

He was delivering her.

And now I have no fucking idea where my sister is.

“Angelo?” Adriana’s voice sounds from behind us.

Adriana walks in first, Vasilisa directly behind her.

Goddammit.

Adriana’s eyes are swollen from crying. Vasilisa looks exhausted, one hand resting beneath her stomach as she makes her way toward Santo.

Neither of them needs to be down here.

Adriana’s attention goes straight to the monitor.

Santiago’s face is still frozen across the screen.

She stops. “He took my sister?”

“Adri—”

“I know him.”

I look at her. “What?”

Angelo crosses the room immediately. “You know him, Tesoro?”

Adriana barely seems to hear him.

She steps closer to the screen.
