“I’ll send everything to her.”

“Perfect.”

This is not perfect.

“Thank you again.”

“You’re welcome, Elena.”

I make it to the door before Evelyn calls after me.

“And Elena?”

I turn.

“Keep your name if it feels like yours. Change it if it doesn’t. The clothes matter more.”

Her words stay with me.

“Okay.”

Then I leave before she can discover I have no people, no assistant, and no idea what just happened.

I practically run down three flights of stairs.

By the time I reach the street, Luciano is still waiting exactly where he promised.

I pull open the passenger door, climb inside, and close it behind me.

He looks at my face.

“So?”

“A lot happened.”

His attention sharpens.

“Evelyn wants me to review her winter collection. She wants companion designs. She said something about a collaboration and an office in Florida and St. Clair and Amato.”

Luciano doesn’t look remotely surprised.

“I told you she would recognize your talent.”

“She liked my dress.”

“Of course she did.”

“She said the neckline was smart.”

“It is.”

I stare at him.

Then I remember the most urgent problem.

“Apparently, I have an assistant.”
