“It helps keep the house cool.”

“It isn’t even hot in here.”

“We keep the thermostat low.”

“You refrigerate the mansion?”

“I keep it comfortable.”

I walk around the island, running my fingertips across the cold surface.

The kitchen has two ovens, an enormous refrigerator, more cabinets than any person could reasonably use, and an entire wall of glass overlooking the backyard.

Then I see the pool.

I scream.

Luciano says my name behind me, but I’m already running toward the sliding doors.

They disappear into the wall when I shove them open, and warm air wraps around me as I step outside.

The pool is enormous.

It stretches across the patio in sparkling blue curves, with a shallow ledge, raised spa, and waterfall spilling from pale stone. A covered cabana sits at one end with enough furniture beneath it to host a small wedding.

Beyond that is another building.

I point.

“Is that a house?”

“The pool house.”

“Your pool has its own house?”

“Our pool.”

My heart stops.

Luciano walks up behind me as if he hasn’t done anything.

I look from him to the pool house.

“What’s in it?”

“A bathroom. Changing rooms. A kitchen. A guest suite.”

“That isn’t a pool house. That’s a second house with pool privileges.”

His hand slides around my waist.

I’m still staring at the water.

“We have a waterfall.”

“We do.”

“And a cabana.”
