“I also realized I’m a hypocrite.”
“That must have been difficult.”
“Devastating. I was judging Angelo’s strip club while planning which room I want to use at Obsidian later.”
He finally smiles. “There she is.”
He guides me toward the elevators.
“Where are we going?”
“To finish the tour.”
“You’re still showing me around after I accused you of running cartel central?”
“You accuse me of something every day.”
I look up at him. “You love it.”
His hand presses against my back.
He doesn’t answer.
He doesn’t have to.
Chapter 43
Luciano
Elena is asleep when I leave the estate.
After Obsidian, she barely made it through the shower before curling into my side. I stayed until her breathing evened out, kissed her shoulder, and left her to nap.
An afternoon at Obsidian was exactly what I needed.
Without it, I might be driving to Angelo Amato’s estate prepared to start a war inside the Sovereigns.
A war for Elena.
I shake my head as the gates open ahead of me.
Never in a million years did I imagine I’d become a man capable of that sentence.
Fortunately for Angelo, I’m calm now.
Calm enough to give him one opportunity to be reasonable.
If he refuses, I’ll give him time to reconsider.
From Florida.
I follow the curved drive and park near the front steps. Nico Conti opens the door before I reach it, his scar pulling slightly when something close to a smile touches his face.
“Castillo.”
“Conti.”
“He expected you.”
