It’s an awkward angle, but I try not to squirm as his attention finally lands on the scar from my c-section. The line I’ve hidden from the world with one-piece bathing suits, high-waisted underwear, and a closed-off demeanor that meant I never gave myself completely to another human.
I’ve never been so happy with a decision in my life.
There wasn’t a moment in the last decade where I didn’t belong to this man.
Others saw it as an inability to love or to be loved, but the reality is that I’d given all my love to him. There was nothing left to give to another. And I know now that no other person could love me like this man does.
He presses his lips gently against the scar, and from under that messy blond hair, he looks up and shatters me. “Thank you,” he says firmly, his grip on my heart almost as tight as the one on my hips. “I love you so much.”
I drop my head back against the wall as he kisses a hot trail down my pubic bone. The moment his tongue slides between my lips, I buck against him and cry out.
He stills in response. “If you make a sound, I stop,” he warns. Then he kisses away the sting of his words and starts again.
With my lips folded in on themselves, I strain to stay quiet as he takes me slowly, drawing out my pleasure. Licking, teasing, fingering. Every touch undoes me, breaks down my walls, leaving me completely bare to him.
My legs tremble as my orgasm takes over. Without stopping, Jay looks up at me from his spot on the floor with a wicked glint in his eye as he silently dares me to stay quiet through it. Not wanting the pleasure to end, I squeeze my eyes shut as my orgasm rips through me. Jay’s soft chuckle vibrates against my clit, and he presses another soft kiss to it before sucking it into his mouth and moaning. “Such a fucking good girl tonight. Proud of you.”
Boneless, I practically fall when he stands and kisses my mouth, his tongue delving in, possessing me. I press back, needing a moment to breathe. To think. To remember what I want. “Baby, I need to see you. Please,” I beg.
Jay smirks. “You never have to beg, but I love when you do.”
I grip his shirt and pull it over his head quickly, gasping when I catch sight of his bare chest. “What is this?” I whisper, tracing the three stars tattooed across his ribs with my fingers. Two of the stars are black, but the one in the center is a pale yellow.
“A reminder of the only thing that has ever mattered to me. Star-crossed lovers. Written in the stars. Opposing ideas, obviously. Fated to love? Fated to hate? The truth is, Catherine, none of it mattered the moment I met you. One way or another, I always intended to rewrite the stars so I could make you the center of my universe.”
“That’s why the one in the middle is yellow?” I breathe, tracing it with my fingers. “Why are there three?”
Jay shrugs. “I have no idea why I chose three at the time. Maybe somehow my heart knew what my brain didn’t. That it was always meant to be the three of us.”
Like Jay, I have an innate need to drop my lips to his skin. To the place where he branded himself with our memory.
With quiet determination, I help him undress. Then we stumble to the bed and kiss lazily for what could be minutes or hours, I don’t know. And then he shifts his hips, dragging his hard erection between my legs, bringing forth a gasp he swallows as he sinks inside me.
Slowly, he moves in and out of my body, his focus trained on my face the entire time. Holding our connection. Telling me with every punishing thrust how he loves me, that this is it. This is forever. This is what we were always meant to be.
And when my body convulses around him, squeezing him tightly, he kisses me through it, keeping me quiet. Then he pulls out quickly and paints my stomach with his own pleasure.

Kitten,
I can’t get thoughts of you covered in me last
night out of my head. I need you. My office,
fifteen minutes.
Love,
Jay
