“It doesn’t?” she asks, a little breathless.

“Just means you need to learn how to be quiet,” I tease.

Her eyes light in challenge.

“Can you be quiet, Kitten?”

She practically purrs against me as I lift her in my arms. “I can try,” she says, nibbling along my jaw as I carry her toward the bedroom.

Cat

Still Falling for You by Ellie Goulding

It’s not until Jay flicks on the bedroom light that the nerves hit me. We’ve had sex in public. We’ve played in the club. And we’ve certainly flirted a whole lot over the last few months. But this is so much different.

Not just because we’re parents. And not because we have to be quiet.

This time, we’re going into it with eyes wide open.

He hasn’t touched me since he learned I had a baby. He hasn’t seen me in the light, scars and all.

But I don’t want anything between us anymore. I want him to see all of me and still choose me. There’s an innate need for him to want me even when things aren’t sexy, because lord knows life will be filled with plenty of unsexy moments. But if we’re doing this—if we’re really going to make this work—then I need to know that even when I’m ordinary, he’ll still be desperate for me.

And Jay doesn’t disappoint.

Spinning, he presses me against the wall. His presence hovers above me, and in the bright light of my bedroom, every detail of his face is on display. The five o’clock shadow, the thick black lashes that flutter subtly as he studies me, the sexy black glasses that frame his piercing blue eyes. When I shuffled into my apartment, I was dead on my feet. But when he stepped out of the shadows, I couldn’t help but clench my thighs at the sight of him in those damn glasses. For the first time in my life, I understand the appeal of Clark Kent. Damn.

“This is what I’ve been looking forward to most,” he says, his lips skating up my neck.

“What?” I practically pant.

“You. In the light. Seeing every inch of you. Fuck, Cat, I love our games, you know that, but I’ve missed this the most.”

Softly, I ask, “You’ve missed what the most?”

“A simple Wednesday night with you. Anticipating the way I’m about to explore your body, kiss every inch, worship you. And it’s just us. It’s not about anything or anyone else.”

My heart beats wildly in my chest. “Only you.” There are no truer words. We’ll always put Chloe first, but when it comes to anyone else, he’s the only person who matters. The one my body craves and who makes my soul complete.

His warm breath mixes with mine as he dips close, then his lips are on mine, possessing me. His hands slide down my ribs and disappear under my shirt. Fingers graze against the underside of my breast, then slowly make their way under my bra until he has my nipple in his grasp. Tweaking and teasing, he kisses me until I’m almost desperate and grinding against him.

“Can I see you, Kitten? Will you let me see every inch of this body?”

Whimpering, I nod, even as my apprehension skyrockets.

With more reverence than should be given to such a simple task, he guides my top over my head. Then his gaze is on my chest, and he kisses every area he sears with his eyes, as if he’s reacquainting himself with every inch.

“So beautiful,” he murmurs against my skin.

With two hands, he finds the zipper at the side of my skirt and lowers it. As he slides it down my legs, he takes my stockings with it. When he reaches my feet, I flatten my palms on his shoulders to steady myself.

From his position crouched before me, he hits me with a look filled with potent desire and licks his lips. “No panties?”

I run my thumb across his cheek, hoping to ease the silent war waging behind his eyes when he takes note of my lack of undergarments and pairs it with the knowledge that I was out on a date with his friend. “I never wear panties with stockings.”

His Adam’s apple bobs. “I’ll have to remember that.” He sets my clothes on the floor, and then he’s between my legs again, ghosting his palms up the outer edges as he stares up at me.
