CHAPTERTWENTY-FIVE
It was only for one night.
Muriel would do everything she could to forget about him after that night. She figured it would be easier once they were separated by a large distance, with her in Lewis and him in Argyll. She just wanted to give herself one last burst of happiness before she lost all hope of happiness.
Perhaps it was selfish but the alternative would have been too difficult. She couldn't resist Liam's pull, which was as strong as the tides of the ocean. His body, his soul – they called to her in a way that nothing else had before and it was too painful to ignore.
Liam found her lips again with a grunt, slotting his leg between Muriel's. He licked her mouth as if he wanted to devour her, one hand remaining on her wrists to keep them in place while the other moved down her body, brushing over her breast, her stomach, and finally settling on her hip. The thin fabric of Muriel's nightshift did little as a barrier between them, and yet she despised it. She wanted to feel Liam's skin without being impeded by anything.
Both of his hands were tight around her, as if he was afraid he'd lose her. He was, Muriel reasoned. He had to have been. He wouldn't have made all those plans to take her away from the keep if he hadn't. He only let go when he drew back, but he was soon back on her, strong hands dragging her toward the bed by her waist.
When Liam started removing his shirt, it was Muriel's turn to grab his wrists and stop him. As she undressed him, she slid her hands under his shirt, curious fingers brushing against tensed abs. She wanted to see and touch as much of him as she possibly could. Her lips joined her efforts, scattering kisses on Liam's torso and once he was undressed, she tossed his shirt aside and returned to his lips.
Liam was content to let her do whatever she wanted and he was pliant in her hands. But that only made Muriel's heart skip a beat, as she worried she wouldn't know what to do without him. Her hands and her lips wavered for a moment and she thought that Liam must have sensed her apprehension because he smiled at her, carding his fingers through her hair.
“Dinnae fash yerself,” he said. “Just… do what ye like.”
His words were encouraging and Muriel found some of her confidence again; capturing his lips into a heated kiss, nails scraping down Liam’s back to draw a hiss out of him. He had said that she could do what she liked, after all. She remembered how Liam had pleasured her at the beach and her hands found his trews; unbuttoning them and pushing them down his legs as she perched herself on the edge of his bed, having him stand in front of her.
It was the first time she had seen his manhood up close, and she hesitated once more, unsure of what she should do. She looked up at Liam, who smiled at her again as he stepped out of his trews, impatiently kicking them to the side.
“Do ye want me to show ye?” he asked. Muriel nodded in silence, figuring it would be better than fumbling around.
Liam's hand was gentle as he took hers and brought it to his lips, kissing it first. Then he guided it to his length, wrapping both of their hands around it and demonstrating how to move. He dragged their hands down and back up, repeating the motion several times. Muriel stared, transfixed, as his flesh glided between her fingers and she wetted her lips, leaning forward, her tongue darting out to taste him.
“Ye dinnae have to do this,” Liam said but Muriel was quick to shake her head.
“I want to,” she said. She wanted to please Liam just as much as he had pleased her and she wouldn’t stop until she had succeeded, no matter how much the mere thought of it intimidated her.
Weel... there’s a first time for everythin’.
Muriel steeled herself and took the tip in her mouth, humming around Liam. Muriel could hear his breathing change above her, becoming shallow and ragged, as he stilled their hands near the base. She looked at him through her lashes again and this time he was panting, lips parted, and pupils blown wide to the point where the green of his irises was just a thin ring around them.
Liam's other hand caressed her hair as it rested on the side of her head. Muriel slowly took him deeper in her mouth, lips stretching around his girth, her hand covering what she couldn't hold in her mouth. He seemed bigger now that she was so close to him but that didn’t deter her. She had decided that after almost dying three times, nothing could scare her.
Muriel, encouraged by Liam’s reactions, doubled her efforts as his echoed around the chambers. She took him deeper, humming around his length but it wasn’t long before Liam stopped her, his fingers tight around her shoulder.
“Ye’ll be the death of me, mo ghràdh,” he said through deep, laboured breaths. “I dinnae want this to end so soon.”
Muriel couldn't believe Liam had been so moved by her actions. She remembered him saying he didn't have time for such things but he was clearly more experienced than she was, and the fact that she had managed to arouse him so much only served to arouse her even more. When Liam pushed her back onto the mattress, he climbed on top of her, pushing her nightshift up and out of his way. When she parted her legs, he slid between them, his lips and fingers ghosting over her stomach until they reached her chest. Muriel felt a rush of pleasure when he ran his tongue over her nipple. Her back arched off the bed, her body seeking the warmth of his mouth, but he teased her repeatedly, moving just out of reach every time Muriel twisted and turned beneath him.
Liam chuckled as he wrapped his lips around her nipple, one hand cupping her other breast while the other snaked down her body, coming to rest between her legs.
“Ye’re impatient today,” he said in a whisper.
Muriel couldn’t deny it.
She only wanted to feel him against her, inside of her. She didn't want the night to end, but if it had to, she'd make the most of it.
She couldn't hold back her sobs when Liam's thumb began to circle her sensitive spot. Her hands tangled in Liam's hair as he moved up her body, his tongue leaving a wet trail on her skin where he licked her. The kiss he gave her was hot, as was the drag of his fingers as he dipped them inside her.
Muriel curled up into him, her fingers scrambling for traction in the face of the unexpected intrusion. She bit her lip, trying to silence her moans but Liam was quick to unhook it from her teeth with his thumb.
“Dinnae silence yerself,” he said. “I want to hear ye.”
“What if… what if someone hears?” she asked; cheeks burning pink at the request.
“Nae one is here,” Liam said. “I promise. Ye can let go.”
