Chapter Twenty

May felt breathless as she watched Iain close the door to their chambers behind him. A small smile was on her face as he moved back over to where she stood, waiting for him. She couldn’t believe that Iain had been so tender with her, he had admitted things to her that she could have never imagined him doing so weeks before.

It felt as though she had the old Iain back, the one that had been so loving with her all of the time and would have never wanted to hurt or upset her. There was a light in his eyes that had been gone for so long and that May had thought she would never see it again. Yet there he stood, looking down at her and smiling lightly as she tried to stop herself from grinning like an idiot.

Her skin tingled as he put his hands on her waist and pulled her even closer to him. The atmosphere around them felt completely different from that of their wedding night. It felt much more intimate, and May wasn’t even sure how that was possible. Her eyes never left his as he moved so closer to her. Their bodies were pressed so tightly to one another that they physically couldn’t move any closer to each other.

“I love ye,” Iain whispered to her.

May felt her heart skip a beat as the breath caught in her throat. She couldn’t help the way that her lips twitched upwards at his words.

“I love ye more,” May smiled.

Her lips pressed to his, but May was careful around his shoulder as she wrapped her arms around his neck. The last thing that she wanted to do was hurt him anymore, be that mentally or physically. She pressed her lips tightly to his as though it may be the last time that she ever kissed him.

Iain’s hands were roaming her body too, exploring every part of her as they managed to push the material of her underdress off of her shoulders. The material easily pooled at her feet, and May didn’t have to make much effort to simply step out of it. She looked up at him as her heart beat against her ribs with the intention of escaping, her breaths were already slightly labored as she moved close to him once more.

Iain quickly managed to rid himself of his shirt and trousers, revealing his bandaged shoulder. If it hurt him to move around, Iain wasn’t showing it.

They moved back until her legs hit the side of the bed, and Iain didn’t stop until she was lying down fully on the bed. He quickly moved so that he was lying between her legs and smiled down at her with a look that May hadn’t seen in a very long time. It was the Iain who had once been her lover, not the Diabhal who had partially married her out of spite.

“Do ye want to?” Iain asked, as he slowly kissed down her jaw. May shuddered at the contact and nodded in response, she had never wanted something more in her life. Her body was yearning for him and desiring him much more than she had ever thought was possible.

“Aye, more than anything”, May nodded again, as Iain’s lips connected with hers once more. She felt breathless under him as their bodies moved against one another. There was nothing but thin material separating them from each other, and May could already feel the friction building between them as their hips met.

Iain was looking down at her with a small smile on his face. It was clear that he was enjoying the moment, but May noticed that he was also being careful to take things slower than he had the last time.

May bit her lip as he finally rid them of their last garments of clothing, leaving nothing to the imagination and everything to the eye. Her eyes closed for a moment as he pushed against her. The feeling was incredible, and May felt the relief running through her and igniting her insides. She squirmed beneath him as her arms held onto his back. She already could tell that she was ready for him, and judging by the hardness of his manhood, he was ready too.

“Please,” May whispered, as she looked up at him.

Iain smirked down at her, but it was the only confirmation that he needed to press into her in a way that caused May’s back to arch. He held her hands in his and moved slowly against her. The moment was so intense that May felt as though she could burst from how good the sensation was that ran through her. She shuddered as he moved out of her before pushing back. Iain was building up a rhythm but it wasn’t nearly as desperate as it had been last time.

This felt much more tender and much more loving than May had experienced for a very long time. The night of their wedding had felt necessary, she had been hungry for Iain’s company, and he had delivered. But this was much more satisfying for her as she melted into his movements and let the pleasure run through her body.

He grunted softly from above her and his eyes closed as though he was trying to savor the sensation that had gripped them so tightly. May squirmed beneath him, but she had no interest in picking up the pace. She wanted to stay like that forever and she wanted nothing more than to feel Iain’s hands on hers and his body on top of hers. His hips were twitching, as though they were urging him to move slightly faster, and so he did. She wasn’t sure how he managed to do it, but Iain was still creating the same intensity while moving even faster in and out of her. May felt as though she was holding on for dear life as she neared her climax, and her toes were curling and her eyes were rolling back at the feeling.

She groaned against him, calling out his name repeatedly as he panted and pushed even harder against her. May couldn’t help the smile that pulled her features up as she was filled with happiness. Seeing Iain above her and feeling the exact same as her was so surreal. He had tried not to like her, he had tried to be cruel to her, but it hadn’t worked. She could now see that he was struggling to keep himself together as he moved, but it was much better than seeing him struggling to know whether to trust her or not.

Iain scrunched his eyes shut and shuddered as he too came close to finishing, the two of them were covered in sweat as they moved towards their high.

May breathed out as she could feel the familiar warmth building up inside of her, it moved like a wave through her and crashed just when she thought that it would be merciful. May felt her back arch and a loud moan erupted from her as she tried to move through the feeling. Iain was also lost in pleasure as he reached his high.

The two of them collapsed in a mess of limbs and panting bodies, May shuddered and breathed heavily to try and get her breath back. She felt amazing, she felt as though she could do anything and could love Iain for the rest of her life. She wanted nothing more than the man that was moving off of her to lie next to her. A lazy smile settled across her features and she had no intention of moving any time soon as she got comfortable next to Iain.

“That was amazing,” Iain whispered, as he pressed a tender kiss to her head.

“It was,” May panted, “How is yer shoulder?”

“Sore,” Iain admitted to her surprise. May thought that perhaps he would just pretend that everything was fine. “But it was worth it.”

His comment caused May to chuckle as she shook her head and pressed a kiss to his shoulder that wasn’t injured.

“I’m glad,” May spoke in a breathless whisper. Iain was moving his hand against her body, stroking her slowly and tenderly as she started to fall asleep. May couldn’t remember the last time that she felt so content while falling asleep, it felt even better than it had on her wedding night.

That night May slept well, and she held onto Iain all through the night, using his body for warmth. She was determined not to let go of him until the morning came because she didn’t want to wake up alone again.
