“You’re going to be a strong one, I can tell.”

I rolled my eyes and tried not to huff. That was an understatement. He was four days old and already escaped death once.

“One day, I’m going to have a kid, and you two will grow up together. You’re going to be so close, just like me and your daddy.”

Through the glass pocket doors, Wyatt could be heard cursing, dropping his tools. My attention flitted his way, seeing the same devastation mirroring those blue pools as I felt hearing that statement.

“He’s a moody son of a bitch, but he’s a good guy. He’s gonna take real good care of you, buddy. And some day, you’re going to take care of my kid.”

“Fuck this.” Wyatt hissed, threw down the tools he was using to put the crib together, and stormed out of the study for the apartment’s private patio.

Milo rose to his full height and pocketed a hand. “See what I mean? Moody.”

He glimpsed over his shoulder, and I flashed a fake smile. “Can you keep an eye on him while Mr. Attitude calms down out there? I gotta get to the office.”

I gave a small nod. “Sure, baby.”

He strolled over, tracing a finger from my cheekbone to my jaw and chin. “I can’t wait for you to have our baby.”

My throat constricted, tears burning. “I love you.”

A proud, brilliant smile spread across his mouth. “And I’m the luckiest bastard in the world, because of it.”

Goddammit, why did he always say stuff like that? It would be one thing if it was just a manipulation tact on his part, but he truly meant the words.

Bending over, he brushed his lips to mine so tenderly, I broke out in goosebumps and my heart soared. I hated myself for being so much in love with two men at the same time. I would never understand how the hell this happened.

The kiss ended and he winked. “I’ll call you in a couple hours to check on things. Try to keep him calm,” he chuckled, extending his arm to point through the study that was being turned into a nursery.

Wrinkling my nose, I muttered, “I’ll try, but you know him.”

He laughed and strolled by the small, squared dining table, knocking his knuckles on it as he passed. Pausing at the entrance to the study, he leaned to the side and chuckled, then opened the door and stepped into the hallway. A moment later, the groan of the elevator rumbled through the walls.

I turned to cover my face with my lifted hand, my chin quivering. My husband loved me very much. I knew that, there was no doubt. When I was gone, he would not recover for a very long time. Hell, he may never fully recover from losing me.

The floorboards squeaked, drawing my attention toward the future nursery. Wyatt stood in the opening, staring at me, his expression full of sorrow and concern.

It that man lost me, he would not survive. There was not one single doubt in my mind, if I chose to stay with Milo, he would end his own life. He needed me so much more than my husband did.

My husband who still had three lovers outside our marriage.

Holding my arm out, he sauntered forward, his Adam’s apple lurching. He dropped to a knee in the corner of the sofa, groaned, and laid down, his face in my lap. Circling his hold around my waist, I sighed, massaging his scalp and playing with his hair.

“Don’t leave me,” he croaked.

Startled, my heart stopped beating and I gawked at the top of his head. “Why would you say that?”

His grip tightened, his hot breaths warming my thighs. “One of these days, you’re going to have his baby and when that happens, he will get rid of all his mistresses and be loyal to only you.”

My pulse skipped. Did he really think so? That’s what it took to have my husband’s fidelity? Giving him a child?

“And I’m scared when that happens, you won’t need me anymore.”

I sighed, bending over to drop a kiss to his hair. “I will always need my Daddy.”

He groaned, turning his face further into my lap. He began kissing me everywhere, nipping at my slacks, his hands sliding down to grip the sides of my ass.

“I will always, always need my kitten,” he whispered, gently tugging at the button on my pants.
