“I shouldn’t like that as much as I do.”
“Says who?”
“I dunno.” He shifted back so he could see my face, but kept his hands on my waist. “Society? Your housemates? Mine, maybe?”
I couldn’t help it, I laughed. “Trust me when I say that none of our housemates would think my ridiculousness, or you liking it, was over the top or too fast. As for society—fuck them. Who cares? Are you happy?”
“Yes,” he said immediately, a faint flush over his cheekbones. “I’m happy, Rami.”
“Good. That’s literally all I care about.”
I kissed him, and we made out like teenagers in my living room. It was almost painful to pull away from him, but I really did want to show Ethan my space.
If everything went to plan, Ethan would one day call this place home. I wanted to know if he liked it.
And if he didn’t? Then I needed to know what to change so that he would.
That’s if Damien doesn’t find him first.
I gritted my teeth. That wouldn’t happen. The entire Seraphim were currently working on it. As we walked up here, I’d had a message from Benji confirming that the hospital Ethan had had his treatments in had been warded too.
Now I knew exactly why I hadn’t been able to sense him there. The fact that Damien had gone after him was one thing. That he’d kept Ethan from me while he was suffering? When I could’ve healed him instantly?
It made me more determined than ever to destroy Damien in the most painful ways I knew.
The only reason I’d sensed Ethan the day he’d been hit by a bus was because he’d unknowingly stepped over the wards. I’d been so swept away by what was happening that I hadn’t even noticed them.
I knew better now.
Ethan chuckled once he finally pulled away, eyes slightly glazed. “If we carry on like that, we’ll end up fucking again.”
“Is that a bad thing?”
“No, but I really do want to see where you spend your time.”
“Behold,” I said, stepping back and grandly throwing my arm wide. “My living room. Do you like it?”
“I do.” He stepped back and rubbed his hands over his head. “These sofas look comfy.”
“They are.”
He smirked. “Great height to fuck me over.”
I rearranged myself with a groan. “Why are you torturing me when we can’t do anything about it?”
Ethan shot me a wide grin as he made his way over to my bookcase. “Because it’s fun.”
I grumbled, but secretly, I was thrilled. Ethan truly was made for me.
“You weren’t kidding when you said you love paranormal books.” Ethan ran his fingers over the spines. “I haven’t read some of these.”
“You can borrow whichever you like,” I said, pulling out a few of my favourites. “Here. Start with these.”
He smiled as he took the pile from my hands. “Not sure how much time I’ll have to read between work, getting to know my housemates, and…”
He didn’t finish his sentence, so I did it for him. “I hope you were about to say me. Because I fully plan on keeping you busy for the foreseeable future.”
Ethan ducked his head, grinning down at the books. “Will you let me read maybe an hour a night?”
