Blue snorted beside me, and Cassidy sent me a warning stare.
“You’ve no right to protest here. This is a private home,” Cassidy stated.
“What? That’s a lie! There is a scandalous den of iniquity lurking behind those doors!”
Those very doors opened, and Lady Mildred came out. She looked terrified and had curled in on herself.
“You’re the police? Thank the heavens. These people have been causing a scene and making threats for over an hour,” she said tremulously.
Blue got up, approached her, and drew her into his embrace. Lady Mildred let him hug her before Blue led her over to the swing.
“That slut fired a gun at me!” the woman screeched.
“I’m allowed to defend my property against trespassers. You were asked to leave and refused. I’m confident the camera footage will support everything I’ve said,” I replied smugly.
“Cameras?” Father McKinney gasped.
“Yes.” I folded my arms and stared at him.
“Perhaps we should…”
“Nope. I want them arrested for trespassing to start with. I’m sure you’ll find other violations when you review the footage. They were asked to leave several times; they refused. So, I’m pressing charges,” I snapped.
Cassidy glowered at me but motioned the uniforms to close in. I sat in the rocking chair and rocked back and forth as he slapped cuffs on my parents.
That was so satisfying.
Once I checked the grounds over with Cyber, who’d hidden unless needed, we reassured our clients that nothing would come of this. Cyber had screwed anything electrical the bible-bashers had carried and had been amused at their narrow-mindedness. Most took our word for it; they understood we didn’t mess around. A couple were worried, but we asked them to trust us.
Several hours later, we began heading home. Blue and I followed Cyber, and we’d just passed the school when she stopped and parked up. I instantly followed her, wondering what she’d seen.
“He’s dealing,” Cyber murmured, nodding to a guy near an alley. I watched carefully, and then Blue stirred. Before I could grab him, Blue crossed the road and approached. His whole demeanour changed, taking my breath away. He looked around and moved closer.
Blue spoke to the dealer, and then they disappeared down a side street.
“Well,” Cyber stated before racing across the road. Nobody was in the vicinity, so we didn’t bother holding back. Cyber froze the cameras, and we ducked down the alley. Blue was casually gripping the dealer by the throat and had him pinned against a wall. I narrowed my eyes at his bulging biceps and licked my lips. Damn, Blue, he turned me on constantly.
“You’re being punished for that,” I murmured.
Blue’s eyes glinted in amusement. “I’ll look forward to it.” He bent down, kissed me, and walked off. “I need a milkshake.”
Cyber and I exchanged glances even as she held a gun to the dealer’s head. Blue was giving himself plausible deniability and taking away anything he might let slip. Clever man. I turned to the dealer and grinned. I rammed my fist into his stomach, and he huffed in pain.
“Where are you?” Cyber asked.
“Portsmouth,” the idiot replied.
“Who owns the town?”
“Look, lady, you can’t stop drugs,” he exclaimed. “We’ve got a right to earn money.”
I laughed. “Hear that. He’s got a legal right to peddle that poison here.”
Cyber tutted and pistol-whipped him. “The Royal Harlots own this town. We allow drugs on the outer ring but not in the centre. You’re selling near a fuckin’ school,” she snarled.
“You don’t have the authority…”
Cyber shoved her gun into his mouth. His eyes went wide, and the smell of piss made me step back.
