“So, what would you make with this?”
“That depends on the fabric, how much stretch it has, and what kind of support I need it to provide. Everything can’t be used for everything.”
He nodded thoughtfully. “You really know your shit.”
“I better. Bodied By NouNou didn’t get this far off luck.”
He smiled. “Understood.”
I led him to the large worktable where I had several unfinished sketches spread out. He picked up my sketchbook and began flipping through it.
“Damn.”
“What?”
“These are fire. I’m not even gon’ lie.”
“Thank you. I appreciate that.”
“Nah, really.” He lifted his gaze from the book. “You’re talented as hell.”
The sincerity in his voice made my smile grow. Compliments hit differently when they came from his fine ass!
I leaned against the edge of the table while he continued looking through my work. When he finally glanced up, I was staring at him.
His eyes slowly moved over my face.
“I gotta get you to make something for my baby.”
“Awww, that would be so cute. I don’t get to make children’s clothes that often, but I have a few sketches in there for kids.”
“I’m holding you to it.”
“You should. I’d love to make something for Summer.”
He placed the sketchbook back onto the table, but instead of stepping away, he remained directly in front of me.
“I can make something for you too.” I leaned to the side and reached for my measuring tape.
“You gone get ya boy right?”
I nodded. “Always.”
I squatted in front of him and pretended like I was measuring from his crotch down to his ankle. He looked down at me, licked his lips, and then said, “Aight, keep playing.”
I laughed and stood up, tossing the measuring tape back to the side. “Okay, fine. Let me stop. I wouldn’t wanna get in trouble.”
For a few seconds, neither one of us spoke.
I was back leaning against the table. That same tension that had been following us around all day settled between us again.
His eyes dropped to my lips.
Mine did the same.
Before either one of us could make the first move, he backed away and returned to my desk. He grabbed the bottle and picked it up.
I raised an eyebrow. “Oh, look at Mr. You Got Me Drinking White Again. Now you want another shot?”
