The party was in full swing and several more introductions were made. Wolf and his wife Alexis made their way over to us. Alexis took Rory to dance while Wolf, Will, and I chopped it up. Rory was having a great time eating and throwing back drinks. She came to find me when Cardi B came over the speakers. When Rory started throwing her ass back on me, I knew she was feeling nice. It was nice to see her let her hair down, especially after what she’d been through. As long as she was throwing ass, I stood behind her to catch it.

“It’s hot in here. Can we go sit down somewhere?” Rory asked.

I took her hand and led her toward the meeting room to cool off. We were on our way to the meeting room when I spotted Angie. I cursed under my breath, and I hoped she didn’t say anything out of pocket. If she knew what was good for her, she wouldn’t speak.

“Brick, I’ve been calling you,” Angie said.

I guess her not speaking was wishful thinking. “I’m not sure what for. We don’t have anything to talk about.”

“You’ve been acting funny lately. I guess I can see why now. Don’t worry. You’ll be back. They all come back,” Angie said as she blew a kiss my way.

I kept walking to the meeting room without bothering to respond to her.

“Your little admirer is kind of bold. How long you think it’ll take before you go back to her?” Rory asked.

I sat down on the desk and pulled Rory in between my legs by her belt loops.

“I already told shorty I wasn’t fucking with her. She’s obviously a little slow. I know you heard me introduce you as my lady. You’re the only one I’m fucking with. You never have to worry about another woman. I’m not that kind of dude.” I looked into her eyes to make sure she understood what I said. Angie was no comparison to the woman Rory was. I pulled my phone out and shot Gavin a text.

Me: Get Angie’s dumb ass out of here. Her privileges to the club are revoked.

“Gavin’s helping shorty exit as we speak. You’ll never see her here again.”

Rory slid her warm tongue into my mouth. I matched her energy and kissed her back. My hands roamed her body as my dick stiffened in my jeans. We needed to chill before I flipped her over onto this desk and fucked her.

“Sweetheart, chill before you give me blue balls. I’d love to fuck you right here, but you deserve more than that. We have plenty of time to explore each other,” I said as I placed soft kisses on her lips.

Rory had me turned on, and I needed to calm down. The gentleman in me wanted our first time being intimate to be special to her. If she didn’t get her soft hands off my dick, I wouldn’t be able to contain myself much longer. After a few more pecks on the lips, Rory eased off me. Relief came over me as my dick softened. This wasn’t the time nor place for me to explore Rory’s body for the first time. That time was coming sooner rather than later.

RORY

Ihated to admit it, but I didn’t want to go into the office today. Even with Aasim giving me security, nothing felt secure. I knew the dangers of my career, but coming face-to-face with it was different. Every day, I worked hard to do my part to make the world a better place. Here I was, being threatened by what had to be a former client. Today, I would spend the day in my apartment and try again tomorrow.

My body was tired from another restless night of sleep. All night, I tossed and turned while different scenarios of when the next set of black roses would arrive. Right now, my home was my sanctuary. Tomorrow, I could worry about the case files waiting for me. I needed to settle my mind.

I grabbed my journal from my nightstand. Before writing anything, I took a deep breath and thought of what I wanted at this very moment. Once I got a clean page, the words I wrote were peace and love. After some thought, I closed the book. I wanted peace from whomever was bothering me. Love was something I hadn’t thought of until last night with Aasim.

Aasim wanted to keep me safe, and that meant a lot to me. When he took me down to the clubhouse, it was a sign that he trusted me. I took it as a moment when he allowed me to come into this world, a gesture I didn’t take lightly. Something between us shifted for me last night. Aasim’s protectiveness made me feel safe. For the first time in a long time, I didn’t feel alone.

After I took care of my hygiene, I dressed in my favorite lounge set and went into the kitchen. I grabbed the kettle for my morning tea. The sound of voices outside my door caught my attention. I heard a male and female but couldn’t make out what they said. The kettle hissed, and there was a knock at the door. I froze in place, unsure of what to do first.

Then I heard Ava’s voice, “Rory Towns, if you don’t open this door, I’m going to break it down. Got this big dude in front of the door like he’s going to stop something.”

My breathing slowed down a bit at the realization that Ava was just being Ava. I turned the kettle off and opened the door.

“Get in here, and stop making all that noise in my hallway,” I said as I pulled her inside my place. “I’m so sorry. She’s my best friend, and she’s harmless,” I said to Dobbs.

I turned around to see Ava standing in the kitchen, fixing herself a cup of coffee.

“I went to the office, and you weren’t in. I’ve been calling you, and you never picked up. Are you still spooked about the package? And who’s the big dude in the biker vest guarding the door?” Ava asked.

“Aasim put some of his people to follow me until we figure out who’s sending the packages. I’m okay physically, but mentally, I needed a break today. Those flowers coming to the office were too close for comfort.”

Ava walked over to me and pulled me in for a hug. “We’re going to figure this out. If you want to spend the day going through files, we can. Or we can sit here and watch television all day. Whatever you need, I’m not leaving until you put me out.”

I laughed because I knew she was serious. Back in college, I failed an exam that Ava passed. I was so upset that I locked myself in my dorm. After the second day, Ava came over with snacks and a change of clothes. We stayed up all night studying. It became a tradition for us. I never failed another test.
