Reid had been quiet so far, not saying anything which wasn’t unusual for him though. The rest of the short journey was made in silence, everyone pissed off at the disaster the mission had been and the resulting chaos.
When they got back to Hunter’s home, Simon was hooded, stripped, and thrown into an old empty metal shed that should have housed garden equipment but thanks to Reid was now empty. He would have to ensure the house and grounds were put back exactly as they had found them when they left.
Taking the stairs two at a time, Alex went straight to the room he had planned to share with Evelyn for the duration. The scent of her perfume hit him as soon as he walked in and he tried to smother it as he walked to the bed and sat down heavily. Exhaustion was like a heavy cloak on his shoulders. He dropped his head in his hands and took a minute to allow the fear to wash over him. He had operated most of his life not knowing where she was, but this, this was so much worse. Knowing she was probably hurt, beaten, or God forbid worse, made him want to puke.
The feeling of helplessness almost paralysed him. He needed to take everything he was feeling, find an outlet, and purge it. He knew just the person that could help him with that.
Standing he forwent the shower he was going to have and instead stripped off his tux and put on combat pants and a black long-sleeved tee-shirt. Slipping his feet into military style boots, he ran down the stairs and into the office.
Reid, Liam, and Gunner were standing by the desk and Blake and Pax seemed to be having a heated debate in the corner when he walked in.
He stood looking at them for a second. “I want to know what the fuck happened last night.” His voice was a growl. The men looked at one another and then Pax began to speak. Alex thrust a finger at her. “Not you. Anything you had to say was null and void the minute I found out you betrayed her.” He could see the violence in his voice directed towards a woman, shocked the men around him.
Blake stepped towards Alex, anger in his usually jovial eyes. “Hey, come on.”
Pax put a hand out to stop him. “No, Blake, he’s right. We did lie to her, but we never did it to hurt her. We love her.”
“Well, you have a funny fucking way of showing it,” Alex hissed as he watched his teammate bristle with violence towards him.
“Maybe, but I want to help right that wrong and you need me.”
“No, Pax. I don’t fucking need you.” He moved towards her slowly. He could see Blake watching him like a hawk, seeming ready to step in if Alex showed any sign of aggression. “But Evelyn does so you can stay.” He looked at Blake. “And you decide whose fucking team you’re on and quick.” Alex then turned to Liam, Reid, and Gunner. “Now, give me everything we have before I go spend some time with Booth.”
He heard the door slam behind him as Blake stormed out with Pax following close behind. “I guess I have my answer.” His tone was soft and deadly.
The others stayed silent not used to this unseen side of him. They updated him on what they had which was fuck all and then he had Liam put in a call to Jack to update him.
He couldn’t speak to him right then. He was barely holding his shit together and Jack would be on the next flight out dragging his ass home if he thought for one second Alex had lost focus.
“Reid, you’re with me. Gunner, I want everything we have on Osiris,” he clipped before walking out the back door and heading to the metal shed.
He would get what he needed out of Simon or the man would die a slow painful death.
