Seeing her bawled up on the bed with her knees to her chest crying hard it hurt me to my core. I hated feeling helpless as a parent like I was making matters worse.

“Tea, I’m trying baby. I’m trying to be the best dad I can be. You keep having these bad episodes away from home. You make me feel like I’m failing you as a father.” A lump formed in the middle of my throat as I took a seat on the edge of the bed next to her. I grabbed at her, and she sat up and got right in my arms like she used to do when she was a kid. We both sat quiet in a tight embrace as she cried lowly.

“I don’t know what to do Tea, I hate to even make you feel like this. I don’t like locking you up either but damn what you got going on out in the streets tied to Rellianah son?” I looked down at her wild curly hair.

“You don’t have to do anything dad this is me.” She sat up out of my embrace and stood to her feet.

“It’s not your fault why I do what I do, I can’t help it because I love what I do.” Her tears was starting to dry up and now a different assertive person stood before me.

“I’m a high-paid assassin dad, I love killing sick mother fuckers that harm and do foul shit.” Pacing in front of me she reached in her pants pocket and pulled out her pack of cigarettes. I cringed when she sparked one and the smell started circulating throughout the room. I personally felt like she picked up the nasty habit from my mom.

“Killing people? Really Tea? That family is tied to the Mafia. Suppose you make one wrong move then they come after you. I won’t stop at anything to kill anyone that’s after my kids.” I didn’t have as many street soldiers anymore. My main focus was the legit companies that I ran with my partner Stone was doing so good I no longer needed niggas paying up small percentages of what I passed over to them. I was a hundred percent legit with clean money. I was rich but still budgeted my money. Kids didn’t realize how they could drag their parents into some bullshit behind them.

“I can’t stop you, although I can try. I wished my momma would have at least attempted to care for a nigga when I hit the streets as a young nigga trying to be accepted and loved by something. What I will tell you Tea is that shit ain’t right. You too pretty to be out here on top of big buildings killing people.” We both chuckled as I tried to picture my daughter in some assassin gear with a sniper.

“Dad, I don’t do that kind of shit.” She tittered.

“Well, I can’t say I’m happy with what you choosing to do but I know you my child and you gon’ still do it no matter what I say. I just feel a little better now that you opened up to me. I know our relationship ain’t been too good after you found out the truth about your mother. I sometimes hate that I had to end her. Just know, I tried to consider you before I even took her out. She had to go Tea, if you never forgive me for that shit, I can’t do shit but accept it. I won’t stop having your back and loving you though.” Mattea mother Laquanna was a backstabbing bitch along with my ex-girlfriend Nia. They betrayed and played with me in the worse way possible. Violated me along with my blood brother Michael.

“I forgive you for that though dad, I just didn’t like how you lied to me about it like I couldn’t handle the truth.” She smiled and a sense of relief came over me.

“Kayori has been the best mommy a girl can ever have. I just got to figure myself out more, I don’t know why I like doing what it is I’m doing but it just fits for me right now.” Nodding my head, I felt good even under the circumstances. I finally got through to one of my hard-headed kids now I had to work on the other two.

“I told you, you should talk to Scott. She has been a part of the family for years now. She helped my crazy ass a lot, I know she would help you.” Mattea rolled her eyes at that.

“I don’t like that bitch, always taking pictures and shit.” She grimaced.

“She only does that to show progress and to keep for herself. She really fucks with us heavy, and she doesn’t have no family like that Tea.” If any of my kids were as ignorant as me, it would be Mattea. She was the cause of every single strain of gray hair planted on my head.

“She’s coming over, she’s probably already here. So be nice Tea.” I gave her a serious look as she sighed and rolled her eyes.

“Okay.” I stood up and hugged her and walked out leaving her to her thoughts. I needed some pussy and had to figure out a way to get through to my other knuckle-headed kids.

Chapter Nineteen

MATTEA

I had Ream heavy on my mind and didn’t like it one bit. Even though I had an episode, and he cleared the room for me it was his heavy concern laced in his eyes that stuck to me. He handled me with so much care and held me in his arms making me feel super secure. I never had a man do that for me but my father. His aggressiveness and not feeling intimidated by my strong personality is what had me drawn and thinking of him. When I left my dad’s house, I was going to go to Hakeem house to see what he wanted the other day and to ask him for Ream’s personal number.

I felt compelled to thank him and Solo for helping me. If Ream wanted to be an asshole that day, he could’ve let me have that episode in front of everyone. My thoughts went back to my dad, and I felt bad for the turmoil we were all putting him through. Every time I laid eyes on him, I could tell he was stressed out over us and that wasn’t good. I never wanted him to question how he raised us cause him and Kayori did the best they could, and they constantly showed lots of love to all of us equally. Walking out of the bedroom, I made my way to the front family room where I heard chatter coming from.

Now that I had my medication back on hand from going to the hospital. I felt confident and ready to leave to go take care of my business and pop up on Hakeem.

“You look so pretty Tea!” Dr. Scott smiled, I returned the kind gesture and thanked her until she held her damn phone up and snapped a picture of me. I smiled even harder as I casually pulled my Glock from the back of my pants pocket and shot her phone right out of her hands.

Stupid ass bitch! Act like she working for the feds or some shit.

The glass particles from her phone had cut up her hands as she screamed frantically.

“No fuckin’ pictures, you know that.” I stated calmly as her hands trembled. I watched my father glare hard at me, mouthing to get the fuck out as I shrugged my shoulders. Ignoring her cries about that stupid ass phone, I walked out the front door ignoring Kayori and my father cursing and yelling at my back. Maybe that would teach Dr. Scott a good lesson about taking pictures of someone that had told her they didn’t like that shit. I didn’t want to be captured on her fucking phone and wasn’t in the mood for all the fake smiles and lectures. I did enough talking in the back room with my dad and didn’t need a damn Dr. asking me how certain shit make me feel.

I hopped in my car and made my way to Hakeem’s house. Soon as I got out the car, I don’t know why my stomach did flips. It felt like I was being watched. I peeped out my surroundings and made sure I had my gun with me by tapping my waist. His neighborhood was quiet but that funny nagging feeling still presumed. There were no unusual cars parked on his street. So, I put the funny feeling to the side for now and strutted up his driveway. After knocking for seconds to long, I got ready to turn and leave. My patience was too thin to be stuck outside of someone’s door waiting for them to come open.

Hakeem finally came to the door with a confused stare. His shirt was off, and he had on joggers. His tall lanky frame blocked his doorway, tilting my head to the side I gave him a look. He stepped to the side slowly as I entered. Seeing my sister sit Indian style with bruises all over her legs and arms on his couch made me draw my gun and kick the door shut.

“What the fuck going on Kachella?” I ignored Hakeem that stood with a worried expression planted on his face.

“Mattea, don’t overreact give her a chance to explain what the fuck is up and a gun is not needed so put it away,” Hakeem spoke with caution. I turned and focused on him with my gun pointed in his face now because he was raising my suspicions on what the fuck was really going on.
