“Oh, God.” I sighed, feeling super anxious.
Luca popped up in my mind. I wanted to call him but didn’t want to be a bother. Novae could be a handful but I couldn’t imagine what the house was like with just Luca the twins and Novae. He also had Kenny Jr. and Narah. I still hadn’t met Luca’s first love and didn’t plan to. A small toxic part of me was jealous that she had Luca first. I don’t care how jealous it sounds.
Speaking of having the man first, he was stingy as ever with the dick like never before. Me and Novae relocated to his room. The baby had her own nursery. Which left Luca and I alone while she slept. I started half dressing to get his attention. When half dressing didn’t work, I said fuck it and started going to bed butt naked.
I told Luca about today weeks ago. I wasn’t so sure if he even remembered. Anytime I let him know that I’d be gone, he’d either stay with Novae or have the nanny we hired sit with her. Right now, I wished that I wasn’t so stubborn. I wished I flat out told Luca that I needed him and the kids here for moral support.
At the same time, I wanted him to know it and just be here. It felt like I was holding my damn breath, hoping he got the hint and just came no matter how complicated it could have been to get all the kids dressed and bring them along with him. I just needed his presence to comfort and ground me. He gave me that extra confidence that I didn’t know I needed without even knowing it.
“Let me just call him… men are slow,” I mumbled to myself.
I looked myself over one more time then turned to retrieve my phone that sat on one of the plastic tables.
A soft knock on the door stopped me in my tracks. Absentmindedly, I held my breath and froze right in my tracks, thinking it was him. Before I could bring myself to talk, the door opened. Balani floated into the room looking like America’s next top supermodel. Everything about him screamed theatrical beauty without even trying too hard.
He had on sky-blue bellbottom dress pants that hugged his long lean legs dramatically before flaring around expensive white boots. His silk long-sleeve shirt matched perfectly with delicate ruffles cascading down the middle and cuffs like some beautiful mafia prince from the seventies.
His makeup looked expensive. He had a soft shimmer brushed beneath his ocean-blue eyes while tinted gloss highlighted his pale lips subtly enough not to overpower his sharp features. His wild curls framed his face beautifully. The smell of his cologne was masculine with soft umber undertones.
I wanted to laugh then hug him because he was so damn dramatic. Yet I remembered how he warned me at the last minute about Luca. Then there was my damn camper. I wasn’t really mad… the crazy twisted part about it all is I wanted to be mad… I was far from that and that sort of startled me.
I was now living under Luca’s house as if my camper never got blown up. I was content and happy with the way things played out, so really maybe I should have been thanking Balani.
“Well,” he sighed dramatically. “Look at my little coloring celebrity.”
I rolled my eyes despite smiling. His icy blue eyes twinkled as his grin stretched from ear to ear.
“You look like a Disney villain,” I snided.
“And the men and women adore it.” He daintily shrugged his shoulders.
Balani placed one hand against his chest, then his expressions softened.
“You look beautiful, Honey Boo…Are you still mad at me?” He asked sincerely.
“I’m mad that you haven’t reached out.” I rolled my eyes hard. “You and Serenity some fake Godparent’s to Novae.” I pouted.
“Honey Boo, please.” He waved his hand dismissively. “That entire baby Gucci wardrobe of hers for the next eight months is courtesy of me… I told Luca it was best I’d let you calm down. I’m too pretty to break a nail, tussling with you over that camper and the other materialistic shit you fainted over.” He fanned himself, looking around the room like it was beneath him.
“That camper meant a lot to me.” I frowned.
“And the baby you tried to hide meant more, Honey.” He jerked his head back, looking at me like I was being childish.
“Besides.” He snapped his fingers. “I can buy you a hundred of them… all of those things are replaceable, yes?”
“Whatever, Balani… I’m not mad anymore.” I sighed, not wanting to talk about the past.
“Good, now act like it and come give me some love,” he said, sounding relieved.
I closed the space between us and embraced him tightly. I felt myself getting emotional against his lean frame.
“I’m so proud of you, Honey Boo, and I’ve missed you soooo much,” he whispered.
He leaned down and kissed the top of my forehead while his French tip fingertips ran through my silk tresses.
“I’m a nervous wreck,” I confessed, finally pulling away from him.
“Why?”
