I wiped my eyes.I would not have a breakdown in front of the hot alien who had helped me search for my stupid bag that had my water and food in it. How could I have been so careless as to have lost it?

The alien touched me, his fingertips rough against the skin of my arm. I looked up at him, all tall and sexy. He would look like a human if his quills weren’t standing up. And if you ignored the bright blue color of his skin.

He pointed back the long way we had just come from. I shook my head. How could I explain that I needed to get help for Emma and let my friends know I was still alive?

“I have to get back to the ship. My three friends,” I held up three fingers, “need help. And water.” I motioned with my hands like I was drinking. “One friend is ill, and I don’t know if she’s even doing well. Can you please come with me?”

I wiggled a foot and then the other one. My feet hurt from walking so much in these boots not meant for anything but looking pretty. I just wanted to get back to familiar people and the ship that was like a home to me now. Especially since I didn’t know where I was. But I definitely knew I wasn’t where I was supposed to be.

The alien stilled, then looked in all directions, but since we were by the stream in the middle of the plants, he couldn’t see much unless he had X-ray vision. I stepped closer to him. If he had heard something scary or those huge lizards again, I wanted to be by the guy who would save me.

After a few minutes, he shook his head, then looked at me. I couldn’t see his purple eyes because he had his sunglasses on. It was a shame; his eyes were beautiful. I had no idea what he was thinking, but I sure hoped he wasn’t thinking about leaving me behind. I didn’t want to be alone on an alien planet. Especially with giant monster lizards running around. And overgrown fanged rat things that tried to eat me.

Finally, he motioned for me to lead the way out of the plants. I hugged him; I couldn’t help it. He wasn’t leaving me behind!

His skin was warm, almost hot. That musky leather scent went straight to my core. His chest was smooth against my cheek. His belly pressed against my chest. His arms were huge, but he felt so right. I wanted to stay wrapped up in him forever. Everything was perfect.

I felt safe just holding him. But I didn’t want to embarrass myself, hanging on like I was scared to be without him. Well, I was, but he didn’t have to know that.

I turned around to walk through the overgrown aloe vera plants. I remembered the way I had walked to the plants yesterday, so all I had to do was walk away from the cliffs, and I’d find the ship and my friends. I’d even be happy to see Ava again.

Away from the stream, the dirt was packed, and no signs of our footsteps from yesterday showed. Not even the heavy lizard monster prints were visible. But I knew this was the right direction; the cliffs were behind me. Soon, we were out of the plants, and I could see all around but didn’t see the ship. It had to be close, though. I had kept it in my eyesight yesterday while I walked to the big green plants. I’m sure if I walked around them, I would see the ship.

I started walking, the alien next to me. I had to admit I was really glad that I was not alone. I would have been terrified by myself. Not only that, but he had the survival skills that I sure didn’t. I wish I knew his name though. I didn’t like thinking of him as the alien, not when he had done so much for me already. Plus, I thought of him as a friend, even if we couldn’t understand each other’s language.

I rolled up the sleeves of the alien's jacket. It was so big on me it was like I was a child playing dress-up. The alien kept looking around as we walked. I had never met another man so attentive to what I needed. He was so amazing that before we walked away from the plants, he had cut open another one of those gigantic aloe vera plants and slathered the goop over my red skin. He had cut a chunk off to put in his pack too.

If only he wouldn’t leave me when I found my friends. I looked away as I chewed my bottom lip. I felt sad at the thought of him leaving already. Which was insane—he was an alien and probably had… alien stuff to do on the planet.

That didn’t keep me from checking him out as we walked. His muscled thighs flexed against his pants. His amazing, defined abs tightened and rippled. When he pulled ahead of me, his tight butt was caressed by his pants. He was in top physical condition. I looked away, stuffing down my desire. I needed to focus on finding my friends, not jumping the hot, amazing alien next me.
