The female atetwo rats and was now sitting hunched in on herself. I had offered her more space rats, but she declined. Her species was definitely not fit for survival if she was tired after such little exertion today. I am the one who had carried her for several klicks while running.

I smothered the fire, then coughed to get her attention. I did not want to frighten her by touching her. Though I wanted to touch her soft skin… and more.

I needed to stay far away from her if I was going to keep my missions uppermost in my mind. Keep my men safe, capture the pirates, and avoid mating with a member of a fragile alien species.

I coughed again, and she raised her head. Her eyes had leaked liquid which had made tracks through the orange dust on her face. Truly, how much water did her species need if they were going to leak it?

I pointed to the shelter, and she crawled inside. Her dress was now so short it did not cover any of her enticing ass. I looked away as I tried to get control of myself. I was a commander in the IGS military and did not have time for distractions!

In the shelter, the female sat next to the shelter wall, and I sat across from her. I took off my jacket, folded it, set it on the ground, then pointed at it. Again, she understood immediately but then asked, through motions, if I wanted to use the jacket as a pillow. My heart jumped at her sign of kindness, but I throttled my excitement at her attention. I could not afford to get attracted to this alien female. Especially one so unsuited to survival.

She lay down on the packed dirt with her head on my jacket. Her curly hair was a tangled mess, so thick it formed a cushion for her head. Soon, her breathing changed, and she was asleep. Her breathing was slow and steady. I listened to it for hours.

My eyes would not stay off her. I was supposed to be guarding our shelter, watching out for night predators, but her soft, curved figure drew my eyes over and over. I wanted to touch her pale skin, her spiraled hair, feel her rounded ass—was it as firm and smooth as it looked?

I growled at myself and looked up at the three branches tied above my head, willing my quills to settle back down. She stirred, rolling over onto her side, and I caught a glimpse of her face. Her eyes were closed, her cheeks flushed. She was so beautiful, with her full lips, small nose and high cheekbones. Would she be upset if I touched her? I shook my head and snorted; I would not touch without permission.

I looked away from her and tried to think of something else, but my thoughts kept coming back to the same thing. What would she taste like? Would she be sweet like the ripe berries we ate? Or spicy like the bark we sometimes gnawed on? I imagined her chest lumps in my mouth, her legs wrapped around my waist.

Shifting my body, I adjusted my kok. What would it be like to mate with her? Would she scream when I took her, or would she just lie there? Would she give herself freely, make soft noises of pleasure?

Rustling woke me up. Some warrior I was, falling asleep while standing guard. My grandfather would have shaken his head and forced me to do the dirtiest, smelliest work the tribe had available.

My breath caught in my throat as I saw what had awakened me. The female was untying the cloth doorway.

“No, do not go out without me! It is dangerous.” So brave or foolhardy for such a species.

She looked back at me. I could tell she was surprised. Had she been trying to sneak away and leave? No, that was too insensible, even for her species.

I crawled out first, pulled out my scope, and scanned the horizon in all directions. Nothing new, no signs of predator kills overnight. It was safe for the female. I leaned down to wave her out, but she was already outside and standing up. I shook my head at her. Did she not know how fragile her species was?

The morning light was a faint violet, casting an odd light on the orange ground and rocks. The air smelled the same, no scent of rain in the air.

After we took care of our bodily functions, I grabbed my bag and eyed our shelter. I did not want to leave it standing and let any pirate or other predator know we were here. However, with so few landmarks available on this landscape, I decided to leave it up. I could use it to determine our location and distance.

My wrist computer was still not functioning. The compass rapidly switched between all directions, and it still could not find my ship. But I was sure I knew what direction I had walked from and how far away my Raptillion was. We would get there shortly. I pointed in that direction, but she scrunched up her eyebrows and shook her head, pointing back towards the vegetation and large reptiles. Why would she want to go back there?

I shook my head, but she kept pointing to the vegetation, my pack, then back to the vegetation, and held up four fingers. Even though I kept getting distracted by her jiggling chest lumps and my mind was clouding from my desire for her, I understood she wanted to go back towards the vegetation because there were four of her species in that direction.

I still thought my ship’s universal translator would be beneficial. However, if there were others of her species, the Goddess knew they would need help. Especially if this was the abandoned planet Yazell, which I was almost positive it was. A plan formed in my mind that would not leave her unprotected. I could look for my men, and their crashed ships, while we walked to hers. I nodded and pointed towards the vegetation.

The female jumped with a high-pitched squeal and wrapped her arms around me. Or tried to, as her arms were short. My quills shot up at the feeling of her soft, squishy body against mine, especially her chest lumps. Her scent filled the air, and I breathed deeply, against my better judgment. Oh Goddess, the urge to mate with her, to claim her as mine, overwhelmed me.

I pulled back so my enlarged, hard kok would not scare her. I missed her skin against mine but forced my arms to stay by my side. I had a mission, a duty to my men and ancestors. I could not be distracted.

The female led the way back to the vegetation. It took much longer than the day before as her legs were much shorter than mine and we were not running. None of our footprints showed due to the packed dirt, but the tall green vegetation was easy to see in the distance. We would not get lost. Hopefully, we would find her ship before the large lizards found us. Or the murderous pirates. I would protect her with my life.

I monitored the landscape while we walked, but nothing moved as far as I could see. I had that odd feeling that I was being watched again. I pulled out my scope, but everything looked fine, nothing out of place or unexpected.

I put the scope away and thought back to the stories that I now believed were truthful about the abandoned planet Yazell. I could not deny this planet seemed uninhabited, and technology did not work. Those problems were annoying, but not enough of a reason for the IGS to abandon a planet. What else was wrong with it? And would it kill us?

I glanced at the female, then frowned. Her pale skin had changed color again. It was pale when I had first seen her, then a light red, and now a brighter red. Did her species have camouflage? It was not working well. The ground was orange, and her skin did not match it.

The clear gel from the healing plant had given her relief yesterday. I would have to cut the plants again for her today. Then I looked up at the bright star in the sky and back to her skin. My skin was thick and blue, but hers had no natural defenses. Could the star be burning her skin?

I pulled my flight jacket out of my pack and handed it to her. She smiled at me, the sight threatening my tenuous hold on my yearning desire. I looked away to get control of myself.

We did not make good time. It felt like we had been walking for hours, and we were still not at the vegetation. I had stopped several times already for her to catch up to me, and now I paused again for her to catch up. She had been lagging behind more and more.

I took off my pack, pointed to her, then crouched down and pointed at my back. I would carry her like a youngling, and I had to admit I was excited to feel her soft body against mine again. But I offered to carry her because she was tired.

I snorted. I could not even convince myself of that.

She quickly climbed on my back, wrapping her legs around my midsection as much as they could reach. She held my pack as I gripped her thighs to my sides and ran. The ground gave way under my long strides, which was good, but I had underestimated how distracting her soft and smooth legs in my hands would be. As well as her entire body pressed against my back. I had to force myself not to run my hands up her thighs, feeling the warmth of her skin.

I caught myself rubbing my thumb along her thighs and stopped. I had to stay focused. But her skin was so soft like the inside of an urlak’s ears. Again, I dragged my mind back from contemplating her body. If I let my thoughts wander, my quills started to rise, along with my kok, and it hurt to run while it was enlarged.

I slowed as we neared the vegetation. I was positive my kok was bruised from straining against my flight pants. The female slid off my back, her hands running down my arms until she stood on the ground and released me. I missed touching her already.

She made motions with her hands that looked like she wanted to find her bag. I did not know how soon the reptiles would come back. I had my blaster, but could it cut through their thick hides?

I did not see her ship. Was it even in this direction? Again, I looked around, not seeing anything new or dangerous, and motioned to the plants.

We slowly trudged through the thick plants to the gurgling stream. I found our footsteps in the mud from the day before but did not see her bag. We looked next to the stream and under the plants, but did not find it. It was odd. I knew the lizards would not have eaten it, as it was not food.

My upper back itched between my shoulder blades. My quills rose as I felt someone was watching. I could not see above the tall vegetation, but was sure something was wrong with this planet. Something besides the technology malfunctions.
