“Ugh,” she remarked. “Then I’d stink like Caspian.”

We’d flown back to my home for spring break. This time, she and Caspian came with us, much to her disappointment. She really hated him.

“Careful, Goldie Locks, the bear might get you,” Caspian goaded, pretending to be a spider crawling on her with his fingers.

We were walking through the Amazon. Onyx wanted to catch dinner with his crossbow.

She swatted Caspian’s hand away. “You know they have perfectly good food already cooked back at Hennessy’s house, right? Your family has already made me gain five pounds.”

“Then stop eating,” I stated.

“Rude.” She touched her chest. “You’re supposed to say I look amazing.”

For us being half sisters, we truly were nothing alike.

“Deja, shut the fuck up,” Onyx ordered in a playful tone. “You’re scaring away dinner.”

“Good! Why do you need to kill something anyway? It’s so barbaric. You know we’re in the twenty-first century now, right? You really need to talk to a therapist.” She looked at me. “You should make him.”

“Deja, I can’t make your brother do anything.”

Onyx looked over his shoulder. “The lies she tells you.”

I smiled.

Everything had returned to normal, or as close to normal as it could be. I made some new friends at school, but I spent most of my time with Onyx. My uncle and his father had come around to the idea of us. We ate dinner together every night. I even went shopping with Elizabeth a few times.

I thought maybe she was being a bitch to me at first, but the more I got to know her, the more I understood that was her personality and the way she showed affection. I guess it came with the last name Devereaux. She was a hard-ass.

My mother was adamant that I bring Deja with us this time. She wanted to meet her. They actually got along very well. My mother even read her cards last night. She wouldn’t tell me what she said. I’d get it out of her eventually. We’d become close in the past few months.

Now Onyx was still Onyx, not that I wanted him to be anybody different. He still had his same kinks and loved to chase me through the woods. Especially when he was wearing his mask, he let me ride his face with it on.

Life got lighter again, which I more than appreciated.

Later that night, we’d come home from the club, drunk as shit.

“You need to stop,” I chastised Onyx as he backed me into his room.

They each had their own rooms in the lodge while I was back in my bedroom. My family would shit a brick if we slept in the same bed together.

“You know that’s only going to make me keep going.” He kicked the door shut.

“We cannot have sex right now,” I murmured. “My family would kill you.”

“I’m prepared to face the consequences for your pussy.”

“Ay dios mío.”

He shook his head, taking off his shirt. “Your God isn’t going to save you now.”

“Onyx…” I coaxed.

“Why are you whispering?”

“I don’t know.” Smirking, I decided to push his buttons. “It’s a force of habit when guys sneak me into their bedrooms.”

He cocked his head to the side. “For someone who claims they don’t like to be spanked, you sure do love making it happen.” He lunged for me, but I quickly backed away. “You’re going to pay for that one.”
