It was such a punk move and even though he could knock me out. I was not about to fall back.

“That trick started with me! You’re a whole faggot to get in a girl face because your sister making an ass of herself.!”

I saw Blake with Siren behind her coming my way fast.

“Let’s just chill, it’s all good here. No need for anything to pop off.” Halo came from God knows to the left of me.

To surprise me even more, he wrapped his arm around my waist and gently pulled me close to his side.

Shontel’s brother saw it and he switched it up so fast. “Halo you already know I wouldn’t be on one if I did not have to. But this bitch is disrespectful as hell.” His finger got so close to my head that he almost nudged it.

Halo’s grip tightened around my waist, and I looked at him with tight eyes. Because I wanted to get at this idiot about putting his finger in my face.

“You on one for what though my nigga. I don’t fuck with yo’ rat ass sister at all. She drags you into her bullshit all the time and you allow it.” Blake added.

I noticed Shontel looked at them holding hands and she just lost it. “Don’t be mad at my brother because he has my back. This bitch was rude and tried to step in my face.”

“Halo, I got one sister and everyone knows I’on play’bout her.” He pointed at me. “I have no idea who this smart mouth trick is, but she needed to know better.”

Halo never took his eyes off the brother, but I could not read his expression. I do not know what was on his mind. All I thought about was Hendrix and how this would not happen if he was here.

My best friend never played about me and for this man to disrespect me more than once. Suddenly, I felt my eyes fill with tears. Because I was surrounded by people I really did not know. It was like reality hit me that I was alone. Regan, Hendrix, or anyone who truly cared about me was not here.

“It’s my cousin’s birthday and nobody is about to fuck it up with drama. It’s all good, you and your sister need to chill. Have a good time and just stay clear from anything we got going on. Cool?” Halo said.

Shontel was about to object, but her brother stopped her. “We all good this way Halo. Like I said, my intent was never to disrespect anything you or your brothers got going on. You not about to hear shit from us the rest of the night.”

Halo smiled, he unwrapped his arm from around my waist then he patted her brother’s shoulder. “Then water under the bridge. Let’s go back to having a good ass time.”

I was over it, so I took off towards the bathroom. I did not hear Siren call me until she caught up with me.

“You okay?” She asked me when I went inside the bathroom.

“Yeah, I’m fine. I just did not like that I didn’t even get an apology. After being called out my name more than once and practically have my head mushed like a kid. I mean who does that shit!”

Siren grabbed some tissue and wiped my eyes. “Shontel’s brother name is Brim, and he is the only reason why she runs around and cause all kinds of problems. Please do not think any of us would ever allow him to harm you. I think halo just did not want to disrupt Blake’s party.”

What she said calmed me down, I pushed myself to the side and thought about Blake. It was her party and at the end of the day, I wasn’t hurt, at least physically.

“I’m fine. I guess it all was a surprise to me. But I am okay, thanks Siren.” I gave her a hug and I meant my words. After some breaths in and out then our talk, I was better.

We went back up to VVIP section, and the party turned up even more. I decided to have some more shots and dance again. Halo came over to me when I went to the food table. I wanted some more wings.

“You good?” He asked me and one look at him I could see he was drunk and had some edibles.

God, he looked so tasty with his eyes low and full his bottom lip was succulent.

“I am as good as I was earlier. My friend got me together, the shots and good music helped. These wings are about to be the icing on the cake.” I was drunk myself and the eight wings on my plate were the proof. I tear food up when I’m drunk.

I put my plate down and ran to the front of the section when I heard a woman scream. Siren and Blake stood on the side of me to see what was happening as well.

Security pushed through the crowd. When they made a clear path, I saw Shontel on her knees with her brother on the floor. He was shaking like I’ve never seen before. A security guard rolled him on his side until he stopped shaking.

Shontel kept screaming until a few people told her to shut up. There was so much going on, and it got worse when EMS came through the doors. Shontel screamed that her brother’s lips were blue as they carried him out of the club on a stretcher.

Things settled back down but I was still shocked. Then I noticed Halo was eating wings from my plate. I did not care about that. I was focused on his ability to detach himself from what happened.

“Oh my God! That was intense! Shontel’s brother had some sort of heart attack!”
