I shook my head. "You definitely are."

"I'm literally standing naked in a shower with you."

"Yeah, with an attitude and shit."

She laughed. "Shut up."

I kissed the side of her neck before reaching around her to grab my rag and lather up. One thing I knew for certain, a nigga needed a break from daddy duties.

Both Gin and I were now dressed, bags already packed courtesy of my assistant, Simone, so all we had to do was hop in a black truck and head to the tarmac.

My last assistant, Ky, was fired after she tried to fuck me, but that shit was a story for another time. Real talk.

As for today, our stylists had already picked out our fits for the day—jewelry, accessories, hats, sunglasses, shoes, and the whole nine. I stood in front of the mirror and turned to the side, tugging the bottom of my shirt straight, twisting my wrist so my watch caught the light one last time as King burst through the door.

"Happy birthday, Uncle Ozy!"

I smiled. "I appreciate that, lil' man. How old you think I turned?"

He ran and jumped on me, and I caught him under his arms and picked him up, his little legs swinging out behind him. Something in my chest tightened every time he did shit like that. Sometimes he looked just like Reesie.

"I don't know… fifty?"

I couldn't help but laugh. "Man, hell nah." I set him down on his feet. "Whatchu doing up so early?" I asked, rubbing the top of his head.

"You said we were eating breakfast before you leave."

"Damn, I did say that, huh?"

"Language," Ginger called from the closet.

I smiled. I liked how Gin was falling into that motherly role without anybody having to ask her to.

King looked up at me, so I said, "You ain't hear that."

He laughed. "I did… I heard it, Uncle Ozy."

"Nah, you didn't."

"Yes, I did."

"Aye…" I crouched down to his level. "Snitches don't get pancakes."

His eyes widened, and his whole face fell. "Okay… I didn't hear nothing."

"That's what I thought."

Ginger came walking out of the closet, one earring in, working the other one through her ear. "Y'all are ridiculous."

I stood back up. "He learning valuable life lessons."

"From you? That's scary," she teased.

I pointed toward the door. "Hey, lil' man… we'll be down in a minute. I really gotta go, but you know I never break a promise, right?"

He nodded. "I know."

King took off out of that room, and I watched him until the door closed behind him. The smile slipped off my face before I could stop it, and I turned back toward the mirror, running my hand down over my beard.
