Still he remained silent.

“For what?” she demanded. “What did Wade’s team find?”

Madow looked toward Jack Parker.

The older SEAL was watching him carefully.

Too carefully.

That interested Madow.

Jack knew the answer.

Or part of it.

“You should ask your father.”

Jack’s expression changed.

Barely.

But Madow saw it.

So did Sarah.

“What does that mean?” she asked.

Jack looked away.

Madow smiled.

Perhaps the night wasn’t entirely lost.

The helicopters flew away from the collapsing mountain.

Black Site Theta burned behind us.

Fire glowed through the storm, then slowly vanished beneath snow and darkness.

Inside the cabin, Sarah sat pressed against Wade’s side.

She never stopped touching him.

A hand on his arm.

Fingers wrapped around his wrist.

Proof that he was real.

Jack Parker sat on Wade’s other side.

Every few seconds, his gaze drifted toward his son.
