“It’s nothing.”
“You keep doing that.”
“Doing what?”
“Looking at me like you already know something I don’t.”
“Finish your notes.”
“That is deeply suspicious.”
“I can live with that.”
Her brows drew together, but she returned to the page.
Eventually, the pen slowed and stopped.
Chrissy fell asleep with the notebook still open beside her.
I moved it to the nightstand.
She barely stirred.
I got out of bed, pulled on trousers, and stepped into the adjoining sitting room.
The estate was quiet.
I picked up my phone and called Samir.
He answered on the second ring.
“Your Highness.”
“I need two things prepared for tomorrow.”
“I’m listening.”
“First, a formal employment offer for Chrissy Campbell through the brand organization.”
There was a brief pause.
Samir knew better than to fill it.
“Brand Strategy Manager, Guest Experience,” I continued. “It will be Dubai-based and cover the portfolio, with a focus on the North American guest perspective. She’ll report through brand leadership, not me.”
“I’ll have the appropriate executives and HR prepare it.”
“The role must stand on its own.”
“It will.”
“Compensation should match the responsibility. Don’t inflate it because of me.”
“I understand.”
I looked through the glass toward the bedroom.
Chrissy slept beneath the sheet, one bare shoulder visible.
