“You know what I mean.”

“I know what you mean.” He slides a hand down to rest on my ass and pats it. “You’re not going to disappear on me now, are you?”

I stare at him and smile softly. “No. I have my wine. And false courage.” I shrug. “You know, the perfect combination to combat nosy, rich socialites.”

“I’ll make it up to you later, Sanders.”

“I’m holding you to that promise.”

“Promise?” he asks with a sly smile as someone across the patio calls his name.

I watch him retreat. His broad shoulders beneath his henley, sleeves pulled up to the elbows, and I know that just like I never thought sex could feel as incredible as Ryker has made it feel, he’s making love feel just as incredible.

Floating on air, I head over to fill my glass of wine.

“You know she’s just here for his money.” I freeze when I hear the nasally voice and stop where I am in the shadow of the house and search for its owner. “I mean, I’ve never heard of her before. Sanders? What family is that from?” She’s blonde with big hips, thinning hair, and diamonds dripping from her ears.

“Definitely not our pedigree,” the taller, dark-skinned woman to her left says. “You’d think by now he’d realize it.”

“I heard the Stanleys stopped by today, and they were busy having s-e-x on the other side of the door.” This one is brown-haired and petite with a nervous tic of blinking her eyes.

“Well, who wouldn’t have sex with him? I mean, come on. He’s on my island,” says the blonde, mock fanning herself.

“Your island houses every single man with an eight-figure net worth, so that’s not saying much,” the taller of them says.

“I give her two months. I mean, he likes change. He likes things he can’t have. He’ll change her oil a few times and then realize she’s the dipstick and dump her ass.”

Fuck this.

“Excuse me, ladies—is everyone having a great time tonight?” I ask as I step out of the shadows and into their circle. The blonde all but spits out the drink of wine she just took when she sees my saccharine-sweet smile.

“Yes.”

“Definitely.”

Eyes take me in, scrutinize, judge.

“I’m Vaughn Sanders. Welcome to our home,” I say, knowing that “our” part will really get them gossiping the moment I turn my back.

“Thank you for inviting us,” the brunette says, her eyes flitting to my ring finger to see if she’s missed something and we’ve eloped.

“It wasn’t my idea. I figured if people came over, the women would be bitchy and shallow and judge me without ever having met me. You know how females are,” I say with a wink. “While the guys would have fun and complain about how all of their wives are sticks-in-the-mud and never give it up . . . but”—I smile broadly—“I’m so glad to see that’s not the case.”

“No.”

“Never.”

“Great. That’s so good to hear. Well, if you do hear the catty bullshit, just make sure to let them all know they’re wrong. I couldn’t care less about the money. I’ve made plenty of my own.” I lean forward and lower my voice to a whisper. “I’m just here for the sex. I mean, what woman would turn down a man with twelve inches and a whole helluva lot of skill?” Eyes widen. Lips fall lax. A gasp falls from one of their mouths. “Multiple orgasms. Every. Single. Time.”

“Really?” the blonde croaks as if she’s talking about china patterns.

“So good,” I moan and take a sip of my wine. “In fact”—I look at my watch—“I’ve got to find him. My alarm’s about to go off any second.”

“Alarm for what?” the brunette asks.

“What else? Sex this incredible is not to be missed. We like to set alarms on each other’s phones without the other knowing. The last person in the bedroom has to give oral first. And let me tell you, his tongue is something I definitely don’t want to miss.” I walk a few steps and then turn back and smile. “It was a pleasure meeting you. I hope you have a great time.”

And when I walk away with a huge smile on my face and their fervent whispers going at my back, I know my job is done.
