The door to the bunk room opened, and Lucian entered carrying a large tray of food. “Seems we timed it just right. Are you hungry enough to eat in your current…situation, or do you want to wait?”
Giving my ass a little wiggle, Toma hissed and clamped his hand down on my hip. “Dani,” he growled.
“It seems we’re gonna have to wait,” I concluded.
Everyone chuckled at that as Victor and Sorin joined us with drinks along with a bucket of warm water for us to clean up with. While I loved being connected to my Alphas, I was relieved when it didn’t last too long so I could wolf down some food.
“I’m feeling way better for some reason,” I shared, licking my fingers, not willing to pass up any trace of this amazing meat they cooked.
“There have been theories that the first heat can be managed better with bonding the Omega,” Cris said, laying on his stomach, unable to sit just yet. “Everything about a heat is to create the perfect environment for an Omega to conceive. It’s always been my personal belief that when Alphas and Omegas are compatible and drawn to each other by scent, they make the best scenario for that. So, in theory, if the body feels that it’s done its job, the heat will be alleviated faster. Mind you, this is my conclusion. It hasn’t been officially studied or anything here in Asturge.”
“Sounds logical to me,” Sorin commented. “Plus, heats can last from two to five days, so there’s always the chance she just has a shorter heat. Nothing about her cycle has been what the statistics tell us.”
Lucian nodded in agreement while chewing but held up a finger to give him a second until his mouth was empty. “Regardless of our theories on her heat, I believe it would be wise to stay for another day or so just to be sure it’s safe.”
Everyone seemed to agree on that, and I didn’t mind either. While the need part of the heat seemed to be subsiding since I’d been able to go this long without begging to get knotted, I was still exhausted. My body felt like it was made out of lead and everything was a struggle to manage. Now full, it was becoming even harder to keep my eyes open, and I yawned.
Victor reached over and tugged me closer to lift me onto his lap and cradle me against his chest. Not complaining one bit about the arrangement, I curled up and tucked my head under his. With a hand on my hip, he held me securely, then started to purr as he nuzzled his cheek against my hair. This was pure Omega bliss, to have a full belly, just fucked soreness, and the warm body of one of my Alphas reminding me that I was safe and loved.
It was a heady realization of how much I’d been lacking when it came to having my Omega needs met. Now I was soaking up every opportunity to fill that empty bucket. I could feel a shift in me as well. Never before had I felt contentment such as I was right this second. We had no idea what the future held, how things would turn out, or if we’d ever be able to return to the life Sorin and his men once had. None of that mattered, in any case. As long as we had each other, we could make anything work. Lucian was proving that to us all with every passing moment and I didn’t know how to thank him.
His gaze met mine as if he could tell that I was thinking of him. I focused on our bond, letting the others fall to the back of my mind as I gave him my full attention. He needed to know and understand just how much I appreciated all the sacrifices he was making on my behalf. Mouthing the words—thank you he smiled tenderly at me. Everyone believed he was a cold, callus man like his father, but he was quite the opposite. Even if he hid it well. Now nothing was hidden between us, and while I valued that for moments like this. I also knew it would lead to a fair amount of arguments as we grew together as a pack.
“What’s the plan going forward?” Victor asked, his deep voice rumbling under my ear. “Once we know it’s safe to travel with Little Spark’s heat over, then what?”
