“I know y’all ain’t come up here to call that damn ankle biter.”
We looked back to see Smoke standing in the door with our bags.
“Leave them alone, Devin!” Jaeda fussed.
Smoke put the bags down and came over, sticking his face in the camera.
“Girl, hush. Why you ain’t sleep?”
“I’m waiting on my husband to call.”
“Awww, you miss Dexter, Dee Dee?”
“Fuck you, Smoke.”
Smoke chuckled. Bleu looked into the camera, and when she saw him, she growled. That made us laugh.
“Even across the world, she still doesn’t like you,” Mia said. “That says a lot.”
“Hush.” Smoke mushed my head, and Bleu barked at him.
“She gon’ fuck you up when we get home,” I said.
“I ain’t worried about that baby seal. I’m going to check on my wife and kids and take me a nap. Y’all better do the same before Pops gets in your ass.”
He kissed Mia’s cheek before leaving the room. We talked to Jaeda and Bleu for a few more minutes before she told us she had to go because Quaid was calling. We said our goodbyes before heading back into the bedroom and kicking off our shoes. I climbed into bed, and Mia snuggled up next to me.
Even though she said she didn’t want to take a nap, within five minutes, she was knocked out.
Dressed in all black, we pulled up in the back of the brothel in the blacked-out Escalade. The back alley was dark and dreary, just like the mood. Me, Titan and our parents hopped out of the cars while Quaid stayed behind to tap the cameras and security. DaVinchi was behind us in an empty passenger van, just in case we had to get some girls out.
Everybody else was back at the house learning who JacQues DuPont was. According to Nolan, he had just arrived at dinner with his family for his daughter’s birthday. If we were going to make our first move, now was the time.
“Cameras are down and so is the security system,” Quaid said in the earpiece. “It’s a go.”
“Bet,” I said.
We all pulled on our ski masks and gloves before entering the building’s back door with guns drawn. The halls were illuminated with dim red lighting. The overpowering scent of incense filled the space. I could hear moans coming from several of the rooms as we passed the doors.
“I want everybody out of here,” I told our parents. “We’re going for that bitch.”
They nodded, and we split up. I led Titan up the back stairs to where the office was. As we neared the landing, the scent of weed invaded my nostrils. I could hear a woman talking.
Titan and I each took a side of the door and knocked.
“I’ll call you back. One of these bitches are about to work my nerve.”
A few seconds later, the door opened.
“What the fuck do you wa—”
Titan placed the gun to her head. “Scream and your brains are gonna be all over this fucking floor. Back up, bitch.”
She nodded frantically as we backed her into the room and closed the door. Titan pulled off his backpack and grabbed what he needed to tie her to the chair. I just stared at her, my jaw twitching. I’d really tried to help this bitch. Here I was thinking she was a victim, and the whole time, she was working with the opp.
She’d cried and thanked me for getting her out of this shithole. Gave me a whole sob ass story about being here against her will for years. What pissed me off more than her being the op was the fact that she had played in my face. The bitch deserved an Academy Award for that performance.
“Please don’t hurt me,” she begged, falling into a seat with her hands raised.
