Emmett threw his arm around my shoulder, “Let’s not kill said prisoner until we get more information.” Malachi appeared, “Yes mostly because I want to know what they are. He obviously knows.” Clara showed up, “OHH me too!”

Immy popped over, “Me three!” Clara and Malachi said, “No.” Immy pouted, “Hey now, I met Katie before all of you! I deserve the answer first.” Malachi repeated, “No, Immy. You’re not taking part in an interrogation.”

Immy argued, “Why not? I could help! I can read the prisoners aura and set him on fire. Not like fire, fire. Just a small little spark to scare him. Come on! Katie is my friend too and it’s more than fair when you consider I met her first.”

JJ asked, “Katie?” Immy turned, “Yeah, Katie is my friend.” I gave JJ a look to keep his mouth shut. My cousin said, “Uhh, ok?” Malachi interjected, “We call her not Katie, JJ. We know it’s not her name though.” I shot him a look because Malachi knew Odette’s name since I’d told him and Emmett.

JJ said, “I repeat, uhh ok? What does not Katie have to do with this? I’m so confused right now.” I said, “I’ll explain later.” Everyone shot me a look, but I just shrugged. Channing snorted, “We probably should’ve told our cousin people believe mate’s name is Katie.” I snorted, “No one believes that at this point.”

We walked into the dungeons together. Uncle Heath and my dad were interrogating the guy. He sneered, “Look who finally showed up. Luke has always hated not being able to be himself around that girl. Having to pretend to be human exhausted him, but Luke says that’s the whole girl’s personality: being exhausting.”

“Me personally, I think her level of hotness outweighs the exhaustion. Particularly when you consider it’s not her fault she’s in the dark about everything. Plus, that ass and boobs man. I don’t know how you got her off the diet but kudos. She looks amazing.”

I snarled and grabbed him by the neck. I asked, “What is your name?” He smiled, “Do you want to know what we call you?” I snorted, “I don’t give a shit what you call me.” The guy huffed, “Aww, but I want to tell you. We call you dead wolf walking.”

Emmett ripped him from my hands. Keith showed up and yanked the prisoner’s shoulder out of socket. I rolled my eyes, “Please, this guy can’t kill me.” The guy said, “You are so not as advertised. How odd.” Channing admitted, “I like being underestimated. It makes their eyes widen and their heart stutter. It amuses me.” Good. I scoffed, “Get new lines, you said that one already.”

Dad growled, “Advertised by whom?” The guy shrugged, “I don’t know, Luke does though. You have some enemies, Alpha wolf. That’s not surprising since you are messing with girls that are not yours.” I snarled.

Channing yelled in my head, “SHE IS OURS!” I rubbed my head, “I know that!” Channing surged forward, “TELL ME YOUR NAME!” The guy retorted, “You first.” My teeth elongated. The guy said, “Woah, woah! Don’t eat me, man. I’m Thelx.”

I came forward to ask, “What kind of name is that?” Thelx answered, “Mine.” Smart ass. Channing grumbled, “A smart ass that wants me to KILL HIM!” Clara asked, “What are you?” Thelx laughed, “Someone you don’t want to piss off, like your friend over there already has.”

Clara snarled, “Keaton is my Alpha.” Thelx snorted, “The way I hear it, he doesn’t act like one.” I shifted into my wolf and snarled at the guy. Thelx shouted, “God, someone stop him from eating me!” Emmett hummed, “You know, I have other things to do. My mate is upset and I need to buy her more jellybeans.”

Keith shrugged, “My twin would feel better if Channing ate you. So, I’m team he eats you.” Dad said, “He did comment on my son not acting like an Alpha, this is all Alpha. Channing obviously took offense and decided to show this prisoner what an Alpha acts like.”

Malachi warned, “You don’t know much about wolves because you’re appealing to the wrong group. Channing, the Beta wolves have questions.” Channing huffed. Bolt surged forward, “Stop talking about my pup like that! He IS an Alpha, and he does act like one. Whoever told you otherwise was lying.”

Thelx said, “Uhh, ok. You all staying in human form but having your wolves talk is creepy. Can someone get him to shift back?” Emmett answered, “Both my dad and I can. Am I inclined to do that? No.” Thelx reasoned, “Don’t you want answers?”

Dad linked, “Can you shift back?” I replied, “I let Channing take over.” I shifted back and shorts were snapped on me. I turned and Bryce winked at me. Thelx shook himself and faced me, “You’ll never keep her. So, just back off.” Channing growled at him.

I snorted, “Well, since you put it like that…” I trailed off as Thelx smiled. He could not be serious. This dude could not think that worked. I got in his face, grabbed his jaw in my hand squeezed, then snarled, “Fuck off, Thelx. I don’t do things just because someone threatens me. In fact, it makes me want to double down.” Thelx gaped at me, “Are you joking? What’s doubling down? She reeked of you.”

I scoffed, “Well, Luke will be around to find out but you won’t be.” Thelx commented, “You’re already banging her, that’s bad enough. Let the poor girl live her short life.” I snarled and my hands shifted as I cut him with my claws again. Dad and Emmett got me off him.

Clara asked, “Why would Katie’s life be short?” Thelx smirked, “She’s only going to live long enough to give Luke a child.” I pushed way from my dad and brother and shifted into Channing. My wolf bit Thelx in the side and went for another chunk of his flesh. Bolt pushed me off Thelx before I could tear him to pieces from his side I’d already opened up.

Bolt linked, “Shift back.” I shifted back into myself, and Keith threw me shorts this time. Thelx was screaming his head off. I rolled my eyes, “Shut up.” Thelx asked, “What the fuck is wrong with you?” I snarled, “ME?! ARE YOU SERIOUS?!”

Thelx answered, “Yes!” I growled, “You’re signing up to take my girlfriend to some guy who wants to rape her and kill her after she gives birth; yet somehow in your mind, I’m the one with the problem?! You won’t touch her. Do you hear me? I’ll annihilate all of you, and I won’t even have to shift to do it. I don’t know what you heard about me, but I could kill you with two fingers.”

I pushed Emmett off Thelx and held him up by his throat and squeezed lightly. I said, “I could kill you like this, but that would be too easy. You will NOT take her from me.” The guy grabbed my hand, “Why? I mean she’s hot but…” I squeezed tighter until he stopped talking. Channing urged, “Snap his neck!” That would be too fast.

Mom put a hand on my shoulder, “Keaton, let your brothers and your dad get answers.” Uncle Heath cleared his throat. My mom shot him an annoyed look before adding, “And your uncle with a few cousins. Clara, Malachi, and Matt are here too. Go see not Katie.” That made me laugh.

I dropped Thelx who was regaining consciousness. Mom grabbed my hands, “I promise you, we will keep her safe. Ok?” I nodded. Thelx sputtered, “Damn, she’s enthralled you good.” I kicked him in the face so hard I broke his nose.

JJ grabbed me and dragged me out of the dungeons. My cousin practically threw me in my truck and got in the passenger side. JJ ordered, “Drive.” I growled, “Fine.” JJ asked, “Ok, why are they calling her not Katie? I thought her name was Odette.”

I winced, “Her name is Odette.” JJ waited for a beat then said, “My question stands. Why are they calling her not Katie?” I sighed, “Because that’s the name she goes by here. Well, Odette doesn’t go by not Katie, but Katie Karlton.” He blinked several times.

JJ asked, “Is she on the run from the crazy guy in the dungeons and Luke?” I shook my head, “No, her mom’s a bitch.” JJ frowned, “People who do not need to run don’t have fake names.” I pointed out, “We have fake names.”

JJ responded, “For missions. We go by our real names everywhere else.” I admitted, “Odette’s mom might be hiding her from her dad. Her mom is definitely hiding her from Supernatural things. In conclusion, Odette’s mom is awful honestly. She had Odette on this terrible diet.”

JJ said, “You don’t have to convince me the mom’s terrible. Your girlfriend lives in an apartment rented by her mom’s boyfriend and said mom hasn’t been back since she left.” I asked, “How do you know that?” JJ snorted, “Because Joe knows that.”
