I settled into the section with my usual crew while the DJ kept shouting me out every five damn minutes.

"Man, tell that nigga to shut the fuck up before I fire his ass," I muttered, pouring myself another drink.

Everybody laughed.

I hadn't been sitting down five damn minutes before the birds started flocking. It never failed. Every time I walked into a club, women acted like they had front-row tickets to a damn audition. One after another, they kept finding reasons to make their way over to the section.

"Can we sit over here?"

One of my homeboys looked over at me. "Shit, I don't see why not."

"Nah," I replied.

"Damn, bruh."

"I ain't come here for all that."

The girls rolled their eyes before walking off to find another section willing to entertain 'em. That bought us all of two minutes. Another one walked over, smiling like we knew each other.

"I know you remember me."

"No."

"You serious?" Her smile disappeared just that fast.

"Dead serious."

She stood there another second before sucking her teeth and walking away.

"Boy, you hell." Poncho damn near fell off the couch laughing.

"I just came to kick it and check out my investment."

Before I could take another sip of my drink, somebody stepped into my line of sight. I already knew who it was before I even looked up. My ex-girlfriend Shania. Her homegirl stood right behind her, looking like she already knew this wasn't about to end well.

"Can we talk?" she asked.

"We ain't got nothing to talk about."

"So, you just gone ignore me? I been calling and texting you and you been ignoring me."

"Shania it's over. You know it's over."

"No. You just mad."

"Nah. I'm done."

She folded her arms and laughed like I was playing with her. "Done? After everything I did for you?"

Her homegirl leaned over. "Come on girl."

Shania snatched her arm away. "No!"

A few heads started turning toward the section. All that extra attention was exactly what I didn't want. I put my drink down and looked her dead in the eyes.

"You drunk. Go home."

"Or what?"
