“I was watching him while was talking. Something about his energy was off. The way he was standing, the way he wouldn’t make eye contact. That nigga know something.”

“Could just be nervous because of what happened with ole girl and her brother.”

“Nah. It’s more than that.”

Kenzo shook his head slowly. “I don’t know, man. That nigga Wes always been weird, but he been a solid soldier for a minute. We gotta be sure before we make that move. I’ll keep an eye on him.”

“Aight. Do that.”

“Got you.” There was a pause, and then Zo said, “Aye, my nigga, what exactly is you planning with this bitch?”

I looked at him. “What you mean?”

“Fuck you mean what I mean? You let the lil’ nigga go. You took her. And you keeping her? That ain’t how we do shit.”

“I’m just fucking her,” I said, my voice flat. “When I’m done, I’ll get rid of her.”

Kenzo didn’t look convinced. He knew me too well. We’d been best friends since elementary school, started in the streets together when we were twelve. He could read me better than anyone.

But I didn’t answer to nobody. Not even Zo.

“Just handle the Wes situation,” I said. “I’ll handle my own business.”

Kenzo stared at me for a long moment, then nodded. “Aight, boss.”

I didn’t bother with a response to his bullshit. I got back in my SUV and sat there for a minute, my hands on the steering wheel.

The truth was, I didn’t know what the fuck I was doing with Indie. I should’ve killed her. Should’ve handled her and her brother at the warehouse.

But I didn’t.

And now she was at my crash pad, probably plotting how to escape or kill me in my sleep.

The thought made me smile.

She could try. But she wouldn’t succeed.

I started the engine and pulled out of the warehouse lot, my mind already back on Indie and what I was gonna do to her when I got back.

Chapter 4

Indie

I stared at the empty space where Stone was standing before he walked out.

This nigga really left me here.

I’d stupidly hoped that after one night of fucking, he’d let me go. That he’d get his nut and be done with me. That I could go home, check on Ish, and try to figure out how to move forward from this nightmare.

But nah. That wasn’t happening.

“Fuck,” I muttered, running my hands through my tangled hair. My whole body was sore. My thighs, my back, my pussy.Damn.Stone had fucked me like he was trying to break me, and honestly, he might’ve succeeded.

I needed to get him off me. Out of my head. Because something about that nigga was getting under my skin in a way I didn’t understand, and I didn’t like it.

I threw the sheets off and stood up, my legs shaky. I was still naked, and I could feel the remnants of last night—and this morning—all over my body. The sweat, the smell of sex, and the undeniable ache between my legs.

I needed a shower. Now.
