Blake sits down in the passenger’s seat, which leaves me no other choice than to sit in the back with Violet.
“Hi,” she says.
I wet my lips, opening thedoor for her. “Your chariot awaits, madame.” I extend my arm, taking her by her hand and helping her into the car.
“Why thank you, sir.”
Goddammit, my hand is sweaty now.
How am I going to get over the feelings I have for Violet? It’s becoming more of a challenge every day being in the same room as her or in close proximity to her. Now, I’m sitting next to her in her mom’s car with her brother in the front seat.
Seriously, just dig a hole and bury me inside of it now.
Once our seatbelts are secured, Georgia backs out of the driveway.
Whipping out my phone, I start a text conversation with Violet.
Me
Happy Halloween!
Violet
Why are you texting me when I’m sitting right next to you?
Me
You know your brother would kick my ass if he saw us talking to each other
Violet
Yeah, good point
Me
Are you dressing up this year?
Violet
I kind of have to since my mother throws one of the biggest Halloween parties in town every year. There’s a part of me that wants to stay in my room and pretend I don’t exist, but I can’t do that. Sometimes I already feel invisible, especially when I’maround my family
Me
Well, you’re not invisible to me
Who or what are you dressing up as?
Violet
I can’t tell you. It’s a secret
Me
Fine. I won’t tell you who I’m dressing up as then
Violet
Some things are worth the wait
