“Yes, Daddy.”

“Damn, it’s hot in here.” I pull on the collar of my shirt.

“Here. Give Daddy your hoodie.”

I strip it over my head, and he wolf whistles.

“My t-shirt came up too, didn’t it?”

“Yep. And I just want to rub my face on your hairy belly.”

“Not now. You’ll make me hard.” I blush and hand him my sweater.

“I’m already hard,” he purrs in my ear. “But later.” Then he takes my hand and pulls me deeper into the space. That’s when I realize it’s a hot shop.

“Awesome! Are we blowing glass?”

“Youare.I’mgoing to watch from the gallery where it’s cool while you have a private lesson.”

“A private lesson?” He nods. “This is amazing. You really are the best Daddy.”

“Thank you, sweet boy.” I give him a quick kiss. “Now go have fun and try not to burn yourself.”

I run over to the instructor. She’s probably in her mid-forties, and her hair is a vibrant pink mullet.

“I’m Shelia, and you must be Whit.” I shake her hand.

“I am, and I love the hair.”

“Thanks, it helps keep me cool and the sweat out of my eyes. Which you’ll find out is very important.”

“I bet. It’s hot in here already and I haven’t done anything yet.”

“Well, if you get addicted to glass, you’ll develop somewhat of a tolerance over time.”

“Addicted?”

“It happens.” She shrugs. “Glass isn’t for everyone, but for those it is, it becomes your passion. Have you ever blown glass before?”

“Once when I was in high school, and it really stuck with me. I still have the piece I made. Too bad I had to study finance instead of art in college.”

“Numbers, blah. They’re the worst.”

“So true.”

“Alright, for our first lesson, we are going to start with the basics.” She walks over to the oven. “This is a glory hole.” I try, really, really try not to laugh. “Go ahead, it’s funny.” She grins, and I chuckle. “Inside is where we keep the liquid glass. It’s a mixture of sand, soda, and lime.”

“That sounds like a drink, well, minus the sand.”

“It kinda does. But it’s not like we throw a lime in there and it makes glass; it’s calcium oxide which helps keep the durability up. As we get started, you’ll find out that glass is a tricky bitch.” She takes a hook and hooks one of the doors on the glory hole. I snicker again. That will never not be funny. “The first thing you need to learn is that everything is hot and never touch with your bare hands.”

I’m hit in the face with a blast of heat when she opens the door. We are talking melt-your-face-off hot.

“Holy hell.”

“I imagine it’s hotter than hell.” She grins.

“What’s the temperature of that oven?”
