“You could be. You just need to be yourself.”
“What if it’s not enough for him?” I say quietly.
“Communication. You talk about your needs.”
“I don’t know. What if he’s a Little?”
“Then you buy him some toys and cute pajamas. If you think about it, I bet you’d really like the idea.”
Getting to dress up my sexy lumberjack does sound like a nice idea, and there are so many fun toys in the world.
“I’ll think about it.”
“Good… Oh, I’ve got to go. Pizza is here.”
“You’re eating a whole pizza by yourself?” I scold, but I’m not serious.
“I, well, it’s not… I mean, you’re not here, so I have no one to cook for me, and I can always eat leftovers. By myself. Alone.”
“You’re being weird.”
“Got to go! Love you!” he shouts and hangs up.
Definitely being weird.
I shake my head and give my boy a call.
“Hey! How was your day?” Whit answers excitedly on the first ring.
“So much boring talking.” I pretend to snore.
“But at least they’re not idiots.”
I laugh lightly. “Yes, babe, they still are.”
“Uh-oh. What did they do?” He sounds so adorably put out on my behalf.
“Nothing really, but I have a hard time with people who have no idea what they’re doing and pretending like we won’t notice they’re an idiot.” I make quotations with my hands even though I know he can’t see me.
“That does sound rough.”
“Yeah, and now I’m all alone in this big hotel room.” I pout. “I wish you were here.” The words come out of my mouth so easily it’s almost scary.
“I wish you were here.” There’s a slight pause before he shouts excitedly. “Oh! I know!” He puts me on speaker, and I can hear as he runs out of the room.
“Where did you go?” I grin to myself. This boy.
“I wanted to show you what I got today.”
Interesting. I’ve bought him a few things now. I hope he doesn’t get his panties in a twist about the new towels I bought him, or the new sheets, or the down comforter, or the new pillows.
What? His bed sucks. No one should have to sleep like a caveman on stone floors and dry themselves off with clumps of dead weeds. We’re civilized now.
“Hang up and video call me back,” he shouts.
“What are you up to?”
“Nothing! Bye, don’t forget to call back.” I hear his chuckle before I hang up.
