“No, I met someone there.”
That surprises me. “Like a date?” I know he’s looking for forever.
“I wish, but no, he’s just a friend.”
“I didn’t know you had any other friends.” I cackle and run as he chases me out of the bathroom and tackles me to the bed.
“Of course I do, you jerk.”
“But I’m your best friend.” I squirm and wiggle to get away from him, but I happen to like being tickled.
“The bestest.” He stops his assault. “Are you going to stay here?”
I think I should, I’m too fucking tired. So I roll over again and scoot up to the top of his bed before I grab his pillow and snuggle it close.
“Yeah, I think I will.”
“Underwear stays on,” he says sternly and cuts me off before I can joke about being commando. I might have left my panties at Whit’s house. Something for him to remember me by. “Then borrow a pair of mine.”
I grumble. Sleeping in tight jeans sucks.
Iz comes over and tucks me in before kissing my cheek.
“Love you,” he says.
“Love you too. Have a good day and don’t cut your arm off with a chainsaw.”
“One of these days I’m going to, and it’s going to be all your fault.”
“I’d still love you,” I mumble because I’m fading fast. “Oh, I made you lunch. It’s in the fridge. Don’t forget to grab it.”
“Lunch, right.”
I’m asleep before I even hear the front door close.
“Did you try restarting it?” I work with idiots.
“Why would that help? The screen is black,” Idiot snaps back. “It’s more than that.”
“Fine, let me walk you through some fixes.” I make sure my voice tells him he’s an idiot. “First, restart the computer.”
He huffs, but I assume does as I ask.
We wait in a tense silence until Idiot huffs again.
“Did that work?” I ask sweetly.
“Yes,” Idiot grumbles through his teeth.
“Then have a good day,” I say smugly and hang up. Idiots.
I normally don’t do help desk calls. I’m literally the head of all security and verification of programs that are being updated or designed. Apparently, the stomach flu is going around the office and three employees called in. It’s times like these that I’m glad I can work from home. So I can sit around in my panties and call people idiots.
If they only knew.
“Tech support,” I answer the next call.
“Yeah, hi. I’m not sure what, um…” he stumbles.
