“It must suck when your head and your body don’t agree.”

I nod. “Maybe I will grow more comfortable like this when I’m here longer.”

“Sometimes fitting in takes time. It’s not an automatic thing,” he says.

I kiss the side of his head, lingering just a moment. “Thank you for that.”

“Is it easier to be this or your human?”

“They’re about the same.”

“Well, I’ll say that this form is much more fun.”

He looks up at me and smirks.

“You like that I can touch you with so many of my limbs.”

“Yes,” he says. “The feelings and sensations are different from what I’m used to, and I like that.”

I loosen one of my arms around him, using the tip to graze across the skin of his lower stomach. He moans softly, his hand circling my wrist and squeezing. I slide up his chest and brush over his nipples, flicking the jewelry and making him squirm. He presses against my hardening cock, making it throb.

“You are probably sore—” I say.

“Not too sore.”

I huff a laugh. “I was going to say you are probably sore, but I don’t care. I want you again.”

“So take me.”

Chapter Fourteen

Leif

Before we know it, it’s the middle of August and we’re in Maryland, setting up for our first show in Annapolis. We’re just about halfway through this tour.

Every time we’re in a hotel, I’m sneaking into Aliko’s room so he can fuck me. With his cock, his fingers, his arms… every part of him that can be inside of me, has been at this point.

Tonight, though, is a little different. Because his egg is inside me, and I’m setting up. We’ve never done this before. I’ve had it in me plenty of times, but never while being out. It’s distracting, to say the least.

Every time we fuck, Aliko has produced another egg. Sometimes he puts it inside me, sometimes he just disposes of it. He’s always very careful, not wanting anyone to find out whatit is. There’s something about the fact that he trusts me with something so precious while he’s not around... It means a lot. It not only feels intimate, but it feels important.

Aliko trusts me.

What was initially just a hookup has turned into so much more. We’re serious in a way that I can’t explain. Everything we do is so natural. We’re always on the same page.

Settling down with someone was always what I wanted to do, but I hadn’t considered doing that now, like this, while on the road and on a tour that’s so big. But when that person is also on the road, it’s hard not to consider the way we could make things work together.

Neither of us have brought this up to the other, but I see the way he looks at me. I know he’s thinking the same thing. But he’s a rock star. He has to uphold a certain image. It doesn’t feel like something Aliko would care about, but I don’t want to step on his toes and make him feel uncomfortable, either.

He’s mentioned numerous times that he has to go back to his family. But that’s all he’s said. There is no mention of staying or coming back here. There are rumblings of another tour because this one is going so well, but they also need to work on another album, too.

What does his trip mean for the band? Asking him would be crossing a line, so I keep my mouth shut when the thoughts come up. He’ll tell me when he wants to. Maybe he hasn’t figured it out yet.

He tells me all the time how much he loves playing and being part of the band. He says he feels like he fits with them, on stage, more than he does anywhere else, so I can only hope it’s enough to make him stay, even if that means being shunned by his family forever. It’s selfish of me to want, but I can’t help it. I don’t want Aliko to go back to the ocean and leave me here.

My family, though they don’t understand me or my love for my job, they at least accept me. I’m not sure how I’d feel if they didn’t. They always have. Our family was big and chaotic but accepting of each other no matter what. I wasn’t scared when I came out to them as gay. It wasn’t even a thought in my mind that I had to worry about it. It’s just who I am and of course they’d accept that—not that it should be something that needs to be accepted, but unfortunately, that’s how the world is.

I don’t have the same problems with my family that Aliko does. I wish he knew unconditional love the way I do, but I don’t think he knows what love is at all. Kraken feel like a cold species. Most monsters I’ve known aren’t typically like that. They live their lives similar to how humans do, but kraken are different in every way, it seems. I wasn’t sure they were real until I met Aliko, and I think a lot of people felt the same. It’s one of the things that made people so curious about the band. Not only were they monsters, but there was a monster we didn’t know existed for sure until his face was on TV and in magazines and across billboards.
