Willow and I share a look before making our way around the cars until we’re against the side of the house.
“Maybe they're not home?” Willow asks.
“Then why would the music be on?”
She shrugs, “Let me go check.”
“Willow,” I start but she holds up her hand then shows me her gun with the other. “I’ll shoot them if they try anything okay?”
“Fine,” I mutter, knowing it’s not going to do me any good being over protective. She’s a badass alpha and can take care of herself.
She slowly makes her way around the side of the house. For a second, my heart stops beating as she disappears from view, but she’s walking back over to me a few moments later.
“What’s going on?”
“They’re out,” Willow laughs, shaking her head. “It’s almost too easy. Where’s the fight? I wanted my rush.”
“What do you mean by out? Like gone?”
“No. Like, passed out.”
She jerks her head back toward the house, telling me to follow her.
When I step into the garage, the sight before me isn’t what I thought I’d be seeing.
Three men sit in chairs, Buck, Mitch, and Ricky I’m going to assume. And they are passed out, that's for sure. One has his head tilted back, his lips parted as his chest rises and falls. The other has his head on his shoulder, eyes closed and the last one is slumped over, looking seconds away from falling out of his chair.
“I hope they didn’t OD. Because that would be a waste of a trip. Plus, I really wanted to have my fun with these three.”
I’m confused for a second then I look down at their arms. They have rubber bands tied around them and needles on the ground.
“Pure trash,” I hiss.
“You sure these are our guys?” Willow asks. “I’d hate to kill the wrong people. Although, I’m sure no one would miss them.” She looks them over with her nose wrinkled.
“Yeah. I had all the files sent to me.”
“Files?” Willow asks. “What files?”
Shit. “Sooo.” I rub the back of my head. “I wasn’t sure if I was allowed to say anything, but now that I think of it, I’m stupid for not being upfront about it. You’re my partner and I know you wouldn’t say anything.”
“Say anything about what?” she growls.
“I didn’t exactly look these assholes up. I know someone who could get all the information I needed to do it for me.”
“Who?”
“One of Briar’s friends, Lark. She’s a computer genius, a hacker.”
“Oh,” Willow blinks. “Why didn’t you say so before?”
“Because I don’t know much about Briar’s friends, and what I do know, I’m not sure if it’s public knowledge or not.”
“Then how did you find out she was a hacker?”
“I asked Lexi if they knew anything about Briar’s stepfathers. She’s the closest to Briar. She sent me in Lark’s direction. When I told Lark what I was looking for, she was more open then I thought she would be. Those girls really would do anything for each other.”
“Okay then,” she nods. “I understand but next time, be honest please. I won’t tell anyone anything, ever.”
