My head jerks and I get instant whiplash as I gawk at Creed.

“Why?”

“Time to face my fear, I suppose. I’m not going to the Soul Chamber, but I need to have a word with Zareb, Phoelius, and Barir. Work out what they need from me and clarify the things Thayla hinted at. It’s time.”

Well, color me shocked and impressed.

“Finally.” Amick sighs and everyone—but Creed—snorts.

“Do you want me to skip the Court and come with you?” Thayla asks.

“No, you’re needed back there and I should handle this without you putting more fear in them.” He smirks at her scoff. “Riven and Sevryn can come.”

“Oh, are you asking or voluntelling me?”

“Both.”

I huff like it’s the biggest inconvenience in my life.

“I suppose I can escort you to Hell.”

“Thanks,” he snorts.

“Yes, well, I’m very pleased you’ve made this decision, and I’m not trying to dampen the moment, but when exactly can we expect dinner to be done?”

My whole chest shakes in silent laughter, and Thayla grips my shirt for balance.

“Fuck!” Creed’s up and out of the bed, flying toward the door—naked—in a breath. Kyzen rolls to his side, dying of laughter.

“Oh gods, he forgot he started dinner. I bet it’s burnt.”

“What in the realm is going on with him right now?” Amick asks. “He hasn’t burned dinner in twenty years.”

Yeah, the cause of his distraction is literally chuckling on my chest.

I’m completely obsessed with my haircut.

It may not be a drastic life change for some, but it definitely is for me. I feel like a whole new person is staring at me through the mirror.

My rose gold coloring is really popping off the black of my armor. I can’t tell if it’s the contrast between the colors that’s doing that or if somehow the dimensions in my strands are more prominent now that over two feet of hair is gone.

I did find out the hard way last night that it does not require the same amount of shampoo as it did before. It took me a good bit of time washing out the unnecessary extra, but if I didn’t have to do that, my shower would’ve been cut in half. I’m incredibly excited about that.

“Come on, Thayla. I don’t have a fucking clue what you could be doing in there, but you’re taking too long.”

I snort as Riven’s voice echoes through my bathroom, and I roll my eyes, pinching the ends of my hair one more time before walking out.

His gaze traces me up and down like he’s trying to figure out what was taking so long.

Literally, I was just admiring myself.

“Well, aren’t you just a glowing ray of sunshine.”

“Are you being sarcastic?” I ask as I wrap my arms around his waist and press up on my toes until his lips meet mine.
