Amick’s calculated and collected, with his shoulders straight and fingers laced behind his back. Creed’s wearing his signature scowl, with his arms crossed. Riven, unfortunately, is smirking.
“Do you have any questions you want me to make sure I ask tonight?”
“It doesn’t matter if you do. He’ll tell you that’s not important.”
“You wanting to know their relationship status with Yemi isn’t important right now and not something any of us should be asking about.”
Amick’s and Riven’s bickering continues, and I follow behind Creed when he stomps away.
“Everyone’s ready but Thayla, I assume?” I ask.
“Yeah, we’ve been waiting on you two.”
“Well, you shouldn’t have let him get shit in her hair.”
“I didn’t let him do a damn thing. He’s out of control.”
“He’s just bored. At least he’s about to have other people to fuck with aside from us.”
He grunts and I, again, follow behind him as he marches to Thayla’s room. Her door’s wide open, so we let ourselves in. She isn’t standing where we can see her, but her closet light’s off, so she’s definitely not in there.
“Are you about—what are you doing?”
I damn near slam into his back when he stops right past the threshold of her bathroom. We both watch as she snatches her shirt down.
“I was just getting dressed.”
“You weren’t. You were staring—”
“Drop it, Creed,” she says softly and her eyes bounce between us.
I clear my throat and hold my hand out to her.
“Come on, gorgeous. We’re almost late.”
“We are late.” Amick huffs from behind me somewhere.
“Good thing it takes us three seconds to walk next door,” I remark without moving my gaze from Thayla’s. I tug her into my chest as soon as her fingers graze mine. “There are no new ones.”
She and Creed sigh and their shoulders drop. They stay relaxed as we join Amick and Riven.
“Creed, go get your dessert. If you even got to make it, then let’s go,” I say.
He wordlessly leaves, scowling at Riven’s chuckle the whole way out.
“Oh, he made it and it’s delicious and sweet.”
“Great, can’t wait to try it, but you know what would make this night even sweeter?”
“What?” they all, even Thayla, ask.
“If the two of you were on your best behavior. Riven, no shit. Amick, don’t push for answers that no one wants to give.”
“I don’t see why I’d need to push for answers that should be given willingly, but very well.”
“I’m sure they’re going to tell you everything you want to know.” Riven snickers and I frown at his teasing.
“Let’s go before I change my mind,” Creed grumbles as he walks back in and heads straight for Thayla’s other door. She and I share a smirk.
