“Is she okay?”

“She’s fine now, but she deserves to know. I don’t exactly know what happened, but I can promise you, I’m not lying to her for you.”

His shoulders sag and regret crosses every feature on him. “I just need a minute to wrap my head around what happened. Could you fucking give me that? I’m not asking you to lie to her.”

“Lie to me about what?”

We both whip around to find Thayla standing at the end of her hall, with her hands perched on her hips.

Hips that might have bruises from how much I gripped them.

Fuck, I just want to run my tongue—

“Kyzen.”

I bite my lip as I meet her glare. It’s not really a glare. It’s a stunning, freshly fucked glow that I want her to walk around with every day.

“Sorry, gorgeous. Creed and I were having a little disagreement.”

“Yeah, I caught the ass end of it. Who’s lying to me?”

“Technically, he’s lying by omission. He knows something but isn’t ready to say anything, even though he should.”

I meet his gaze that’s burning into my face and raise my brows. He can be honest about everything now or at least be honest and tell her what I’m saying is true.

“Creed.”

His eyes drift from mine to hers. “I’m not ready to talk about yesterday.”

Her hands fall to her side as her face softens. “Did something bad happen?”

“Multiple bad things.”

“Did I do something wrong?”

“No,” we both say at the same time.

She scans us, weighing the heaviness in the air before settling on him.

“I know it has to do with my soul. It’s written across your face. I won’t push you this morning to tell me, Creed, but if this is something that could hurt me and you’re not telling me or preparing me, sooner rather than later, I’m not going to forgive you.”

He swallows roughly, and I almost feel bad for him.

I know when shit like what happened yesterday happens, it sends him spiraling to a dark place. Him hearing her say she won’t forgive him is eating his fears alive.

It’ll be his own fault, though. I refuse to mediate any more than I have.

“I understand. I’m not going to let anything hurt you.”

A shaky breath falls from her plump, still swollen lips, and she nods once.

He makes his way back to the table silently as she approaches me and the mugs I pulled down. I can’t help but pin her body between mine and the counter.

I lay a line of kisses from behind her ear down her neck. “You look amazing.”

“Stop it, we’re not alone,” she whisper-laughs as a blush blooms across her cheeks, but that doesn’t stop her from pushing her ass into my dick.

My chuckle bounces around us as she twirls out of my arms and strolls her way to the table to fix her coffee. My eyes stalk every move she makes.
