My finger flinches against his cheek when the muscles in his face move.
I slowly, with bated breath, drag my hand away so I can see him fully.
Here, right now in this moment, with his body still pressed to mine, the air between us still charged, he smiles.
A soul-shattering, perfect smile.
It’s warm, reverent, and devastating in its sincerity.
It isn’t only that, though, that has my lips tilting into their own happiness.
I raise my finger back to his face to trace the single dimple on his right cheek, but it’s gone before I can.
“Please don’t. Don’t hide your smile from me.”
“I despise my dimple.”
He means it, and his gaze tells me exactly why. Not only because he got the trait from his father, but because there’s only one.
“I think it’s perfect. Just like you. You don’t have to show the realm or anyone else, but please don’t hide it from me.”
He stares into my eyes, long and hard.
I fear for a moment I crossed a line with my request until his lips twitch once again.
Slowly, as though he’s getting used to the muscles moving after not being used for so long, a smile even more stunning crosses his face.
I shiver as his soul caresses mine.
“For you,Mysenta.”
“You’re about to piss me off. Matter of fact, I’m already pissed you woke me up an hour earlier than I planned to be up to bake a fucking cake for whatever reason. Just get out of my way.”
“I’m trying to help. Could you hurry up and drop the attitude?”
Amick and I walk into the kitchen, hand in hand, both cocking our heads to the side as we stare at Kyzen and Creed arguing.
Creed shoos Kyzen’s hand away as he lays a berry on the rim of the small cake on the counter and a small snort escapes me.
“I told you to hurry up,” Kyzen barks, but his serious scowl morphs into a panty-dropping smile when it lands on me. “Congratulations.”
Creed sneers at his cheer until he looks between Amick and me, and his eyebrows rise.
“You made me bake a cake to celebrate them sealing their souls?”
Kyzen rolls his eyes. “Yes, in fact, I did. This is huge.”
He rounds the corner and squeezes Amick’s shoulder before cupping my cheeks. I can barely suppress my laughter enough to kiss him back but quickly enough, I do.
Warmth spreads throughout my body as my sliver of soul that connects to him blazes to life stronger than I’ve ever sensed before.
I’m not sure if he can feel the difference yet, but I can.
It’s potent.
“Did he take good care of you, gorgeous?”
My whole body flames for an entirely different reason and my core throbs. “Yes, he did.”
