“Please, help her!” His voice squeaks as he points to the bedroom and uses his other hand to hide his erection.
Boy you need more than both hands, I think before running down the hall while I hear JP let out a snort.
I carefully walk into Moni’s bedroom and immediately understand what happened. Thankfully, she’s lying in bed and she’s covered with a sheet. I would hate to find out the weird way if her bark is removable. It’s something I don’t even want to think about.
I bet this guy, given what they were doing, didn’t tryeverythingto wake her up. He was probably being all tender—a true gentleman.
“Sorry, Moni.” I say right before I smack her hard across the face and turn away when she bolts upright, taking in the scene surrounding her.
“OH NO!”
“Yep!” I snicker.
“I didn’t.”
“Afraid so,” I rub the back of my neck.
“Where?”
“Living room.”
“Bad?”
“Um…Naked.”
“Oh shit,” Moni mumbles.
“Was it good?” My curiosity gets the better of me.
“Don’t know. I think so, but it was my first time.”
“Oh—well, what did you feel before you—you know?” I hedge, not sure what I’m asking anymore. This is just awkward. Maybe I should leave.
Her voice takes on a dreamy tone as she describes the experience, “Stars. Heat. Like having the best coffee from the inside out.”
Well, that’s one way of putting it.
Before I can say anything else, the Heath look-alike pokes his head in. Seeing that Moni is up, he runs over, thankfully wearing gray sweatpants, and crawls into the bed, pulling her against him. Okay, time to go. I give them a hasty goodbye and walk out of the room, shutting the door behind me.
I’m positive I don’t want to address what just happened with JP, so I head straight for the door and yell over my shoulder, “I’m going to get the food. Shoot me the address,” as I make a dash out of the dorm.
JP must have read my mind as I ran out because he didn’t press me to talk, instead just sending the address for the food. Chinese food, that’s what’s good for the soul. While I walk, I send a few texts to Knox but receive no answer. I guess he got caught up with something after all. Disappointed, I might, possibly, stuff my face with a few egg rolls on the way home so by the time I walk through the door, I’m not really hungry.
“Food’s here, and I’m so over today. I don’t think my little heart can take anymore,” I whine as I walk into the living room and dump the bags on the coffee table. Looking up, I come face to face with a cute kitten curled up on the sofa. Black fur and faint gray/white specks along its body, it looks to be no more than eight weeks old. The brightest green eyes shine back at me before it yawns and stretches out his paws, and two black and teal appendages shoot out from its side. Unexpected, but definitely doesn’t change my feelings about it’s cuteness factor. “Oh my God! You’re just adorable!” Looking at JP I ask, “Are those wings? A kitten with wings?”
Riffling through the bags, he chuckles and pulls out two white cardboard boxes, “Yep, that’s a Stardust Kitten. That’s actually an adult, they’re just called kittens and that’s as big as they will get. They’re rare.”
Looking at the door, I make a hasty decision. I’ve had a crap day and all I want to do is lay down and sleep. I still haven’t heard from Knox, so I don’t feel bad about going to bed early.
“Well I don’t care where he came from or how you got him, but he’s mine for the night,” I tell JP and pick up the kitten, bringing him to my chest. Purring from it’s warm little body is my immediate greeting, and I melt into a squishy ball of goo.
JP goes to say something but I stop him with my hand. “Nope! Don’t want to hear it,” I say, walking backwards to my room. He gives me a look I can’t decipher and shakes his head as if I’m doing something I’ll regret. “I’m in a cuddling mood and that’s what I’m getting. You can tell me about it in the morning. Enjoy dinner. Night!” I wave and disappear into my room.
“You are just so cute,” I say, setting him on my bed. “I just need to change real quick and we can snuggle. You look like the best little cuddler.” The little kitten meows, sits on his back paws, and stares up at me expectantly like he understands. Who knows, maybe he does. I mean if the creatures in the enclosure can understand me, who says this one here doesn’t.
Quickly stripping down, I throw everything in the hamper and change into a cami and shorts in the closet. I step back into the room to find it bare. “Here, kitty kitty. Where did you go?” I glance around the room and look under the bed to find it hiding underneath the bed with its paws over its eyes.
Aww how cute. “You didn’t have to hide from me, little guy. Come on,” I coax him out from underneath the bed and give him kitty kisses. Crawling in bed and getting comfortable, I recall my first night with Lynx. Granted, I find myself with a new kitten like that night, but I’m not looking for a replacement. Just a simple night where I can fall asleep petting a kitten while it’s curled up on my chest.
