I’ll teach her to turn her back to me.

Taking the opportunity, I quickly and as quietly as possible get to my feet and pull my arm back to swing with all my might. Just then, someone grabs my shoulder, pulling me towards them, but it’s too late to stop my swing and I hear the crunch as I connect with a nose.

“Fuck!”

I look up and see Knox bent over cupping his face, and I gasp.

“Oh my God!! Knox! I am so sorry.” Frantic, I reach for him to try and console him. “I didn’t mean to hit you. Please forgive me.”

“It’s okay, Rez. See, it’s already healing.” He pulls his hand away and there’s blood everywhere.

“It doesn’t look like it,” I counter, still concerned. He pulls up his shirt to wipe away the blood and I’m momentarily distracted by abs. Yes, those devious muscles I love. Wait, what am I supposed to be doing?

“What are you doing?” Gertrude shrieks like a banshee and brings the attention of the whole class on us.

Just great.

The Kents walk over and Spiky, you guessed it, the one with silver spiky hair, greets Knox with a forearm shake. “Hello, Knox, what brings you by?” he says in a friendly tone. It’s as if he almost smiles. The blood on Knox’s face catches his attention and his brows draw down in concern. “Who snuck one past you?” Goosebumps rise along my skin at his brass tone.

“Hi, Atlas. Ah…it was nothing. I stepped into Rez’s hook. I wasn’t paying attention.” He chuckles, shaking off his concern with a smile. Knox turns and does that manly head nod thing with Mr. Grunty. “Ares,” he greets and gives a two finger salute to the last guy. “Janus. I just came to get Rez here. I’m starving and it’s lunch.”

Atlas, now I know which is which—ha—ignores me and looks up at the clock before he nods his head. Turning to address the crowd, he yells, “Class dismissed.” This time I’m not saved by the bell but a tall, dark, and handsome shifter. No one needs to be told twice to get the hell out of dodge.

The only good thing about combat training is working up an appetite. I’m starving.

Lunch goes by too fast if you ask me. While Moni and I eat, Knox explains how he knows the triplets. Apparently, they’re big in the combat and law enforcement world and were brought in to help track down the Deathweaver. Chief Cloak thought it would be a good idea to have them come in and run combat class for a week, so I can thank Knox’s father for my upcoming week of hell.

Knox did a decent job of cleaning off the blood in the gym, but I still end up needing to clean a few small spots with a wet napkin. I apologize profusely while I work and invite him to come over tonight so I can make it up to him. I really didn’t mean to hit him, plus I would love to have one-on-one time with him to get to know him better. While I invite him over, he has the brightest smile on his face until he pulls out his phone. Disappointment fills his eyes as he says he’ll try if he doesn't have any ops to run tonight, so fingers crossed.

After weeks of being in this realm, I finally get around to attending my first, highly anticipated, Specials, and damn it is hell. First of all, there’s no one I know in class, but everyone knows me. Apparently during my short week of school, I made a name for myself. I was the human with the unique Familiar. I’m either asked if I accidentally killed my Familiar, or if he finally figured out how to escape my clutches. Then to top it off, the class today is Herbalism and Potions, which I thought would be a breeze. Nope, try again. I spend most of my afternoon arguing with the teacher filling in for Professor Huffman about the herbs she’s trying to use. I finally give up when she tells me she’s going to give me a failing grade and proceeds to use belladonna in her potion instead of the nightshade berries that I told her she was getting mixed up. Class ends early when she has to be taken to the medical building for aid. Some teachers are just too stupid for their own good. Having authority doesn’t mean you know everything.

Back in the dorm, I find JP sitting on the sofa watching a cooking show, so I plop down next to him and cuddle up. “Whatcha doing?”

“Watching this chef’s technique. I don’t agree with his prep, but you can’t deny his technique at all.”

“Yeah,” I agree, having no clue what he’s talking about. JP laughs, picking up on my thoughts.

“It’s okay. I don’t expect you to get it. It’s a special I wanted to catch, so I hope you don’t mind that I ordered food. I was planning on going to get it, but I might have to call them and change it for delivery. This is going to be longer than I expected.”

“I don’t mind going to get it,” I reply.

“Are you s—”

Moni’s door slams hard and unexpected thundering footsteps come down the hall. “HELP! Someone help! I can’t wake her up!”

I jump up to help, turn around and freeze.

Standing at the end of the hallway is a Heath Ledger look-alike. That is, if he was younger, with jaw length wavy blond hair, a body to die for, and an enormous, hard cock.

Yep, you heard that right. I’m staring at an unknown naked man in my home.

“Who ordered the naked man?” JP says, giving the guy a look of appreciation.
