Closing her eyes, she rubs her palms together before turning them face up. They start to glow as she murmurs under her breath. Not having much to do for my part, I slowly make my way over to where the cage is and sit down in front of it, willing my eyes to focus.

Please let whatever Destiney is doing work. I need this connection.

“Lynx?” I whisper. I don’t know if I’m more scared of it not being him or it being him.

The scrape of something sharp along the floor makes the hair on my arms stand on end. “Lynx? Is that you?”

Long black claws wrapping around the bars come into focus, freezing me in place. A low growl vibrates on the other side but I dare not move. What in the ever-loving hell is in there? Please tell me this is NOT Lynx! Oh God, what have they done?Instead of completely freaking out, which let’s face it, is a very high possibility, I stand up and turn to look at Destiney to find out if she is seeing what I am, but what I witness makes my blood turn cold.

A Rebel in a hooded gown with glowing red eyes is approaching me, and Destiney is nowhere to be seen.Fuck! Can this guy actually see me or is he walking towards the cage?My back hits the cage, rattling the bars and the cloaked figure’s hands light up with red flames.Aww shit! But in the next second, before I can scream, the black claws shoot out of the bars, knocking me over and decapitating the figure before me. The body falls to the floor and the head rolls off in the opposite direction to me.

Standing up once again but on shaky legs, I move against the wall so the cage is to my left. Whatever is in there saved me, but I have no idea where Destiney went or where Lynx is.

“Destiney? Lynx?” My voice comes out unsteady as I push my arms out in front of me to feel around the room. I think I’m going into shock here.

“Just hold on. I almost have you connected,” Destiney says somewhere in the black abyss. “Almooooost…” she grunts. “There!”

Like a light being flicked on, the room becomes clear and standing in front of me is Destiny grinning broadly. My eyes widen in panic as I look down to see the dead body and find it missing.

What the fuck?

“Of all the dreams I’ve had of you recently, Rezzi-bear, this was not one of them. I pictured you with a lot less clothes on and shouting praises about my dick. But this is okay, for now,” Lynx purrs behind me. Turning around, I spot him crouching down in jeans and smirking up at me.

“LYNX!” I run to the cage and throw myself at him, not caring that the bars are in my way. I’ll gladly take the pain to touch him right now.

Lynx’s arm reaching around me starts my waterworks. I’m a complete mess as I ramble on about how much I love and miss him. I can barely understand what I’m saying, and all he does is hold me tight and tell me it’s okay.

I don’t want to pull away from him, but I have to see his face and look into his big beautiful turquoise eyes. He doesn’t look like any of the versions I’ve seen of him lately and I’m grateful. I don’t think I could handle seeing him wasting away or malnourished again. Instead, his bronze skin looks blemish free as far as I can tell, and it takes a moment to realize he’s shirtless and his pants are hanging low on his hips.

Fuck me, Lynx is hot!

His hands slowly slide up my body, leaving heat following his touch to cup my face. “I’ve missed you so much,” he says, giving me a heated look before he slowly puts his lips to mine.

His kiss soothes my bleeding heart, and I can feel that deep connection that was once vacant start to heal. He’s like a soothing balm to my soul, and a tear escapes as he tries to deepen the kiss but instead growls because of the damn bars.

“Um—I’m sorry to break up the happy reunion, but our time is running out,” Destiney interrupts.

‘Can I kill your friend?’Lynx asks while his lips are still pressed to mine and all I can do is smile.

‘No. You can’t, but I’m considering doing it myself for ruining this moment for us,’I growl out.

‘Now that’s my girl. Have you been keeping your claws nice and sharp?’Lynx chuckles.

Entwining my fingers with his, I turn to look at Destiney. “What do you mean our time is running out? I thought it was based on my sleep?” I ask, confused.

“That was before I found out this isn’t a dreamscape and you were cursed,” she points out.

“Wait—What? Cursed?” She could have knocked me over with a feather with how she just threw that little nugget out there.

“Rez? When did you have time to find an IP? You know, an Interdimensional Pythoness or just a fancy word for crazy witch. I thought they were just a legend.” Lynx lightly pulls on my arm, grabbing my attention.

Looking between him and Destiney, I find myself lost for words. “Ahh. Well…huh?”

So eloquent there, Rez. Let’s try that again.

Destiney’s body shakes violently and when she looks up, I see the electric blue of Sarah peering out.

‘Oh shit. Now you’ve done it Lynx. You’ve brought about Sarah.’I internally grimace as to why Sarah would show up. I haven’t known them long, but I do know that Sarah is the muscle while Destiney seems to be the quieter one of the two.
