I guess if I’m cuddling with them, they can’t run when I ask annoying questions.
“Damn, Fluffers got you good,” JP chuckles.
“Fluffers? Who the fuck is Fluffers?” Zeke questions, looking at both of us for answers.
Then again, neither can I.
Bring on my cuddle monsters.

IN THE RIVER
Rez
Iwake up with a start and find the bed empty.
What the fuck woke me up?
Before we fell asleep I caught Zeke and JP up on even more, including what happened between Knox and me and how I wasn’t sure if he was excited about it. Zeke assured me that Knox was just nervous about the whole thing. The fact that Fluffers—a name Zeke was highly entertained by—had picked me as his mate means he won’t have another one was kind of a shock. Zeke reasoned that Knox probably didn’t want that to affect my decision.
I’m torn between wanting to melt into a mushy goo at Knox’s consideration of my feelings and wanting to punch him.How could he not tell me that would happen to him?Ugh. Fluffers has already claimed me and won’t pick another, and Knox is willing to be alone forever if I don’t pick him. Not telling me just speaks volumes of Knox’s character, and my heart melts just a little bit more for the Alpha even though the situation is a mess. Having Zeke and JP to talk with about it made me feel better, enough to fall asleep at least.
Seeing how I can talk about the other men around JP and Zeke makes me feel better about this whole harem I’m growing.
I rub at my face, trying to wake up, and move to the side of the bed to grab my phone and pocket it. Shuffling out into the living room, I come up short when I see the circus that is in the kitchen.
JP’s at the stove serving up food and the guys are in various stages of eating while they talk. Moni flutters around looking a little red and is eating an apple in front of the sofa where Chester sits. He’s the only quiet one, eating cereal and listening to Moni in her irritated state.
I wonder what has her twisted in a knot this morning already?
Everyone is here except for Knots. I wonder how my burly sour patch is.Things would be perfect if he was here also.Zeke flips through the book I brought back with him while he’s sipping on another shake as he answers someone in an annoyed tone, “Doesn’t mean we have to like it.”
“It’s bullshit,” Knox grunts, rifling through the fridge and slamming it shut when he pulls out a bottle of juice.
“Yeah, but he doesn’t have a choice,” Ryker mumbles with a piece of bacon hanging from his mouth while he throws a book into his backpack, making me cringe.
What did the book ever do to him?
It seems like everyone is in a bad mood.
“Who died and killed the mood?” I ask, walking the rest of the way into the room, and everyone freezes like they’re deers caught in a headlight.
“Oh shit,” Moni says around her bite of apple, looking at me and then down the hallway. She does it so fast, I’m surprised she doesn’t give herself whiplash.
Chester sets down his cereal and raises his hands just in time to catch Moni right as she faints.
Well that’s not a good sign that just my presence is causing her to faint.
“What’s going o—”
“Ma chérie, Come have some—”
A door down the hall opens and the sharp click of heels draws my attention and cuts JP off. Emer slowly walks down the hall as she buttons up the last two buttons of her top and straightens out her skirt. She makes it to the end of the hall and looks up with her lips slightly open as if she’s shocked to find all of us staring at her. It’s not until her gaze reaches me when her eyes truly widen and quickly turn to disdain before she simply smirks as if she knows something I don’t.
As Levi steps out of his room dressed in a suit as normal and heads our way, he throws a look full of venom at Emer’s back. As he looks up and meets my eyes, he softens in apology before his expression shuts down and we get our stoic Levi.
“Aren’t you wearing the wrong outfit for class?” I manage to get out between my clenched jaw.Did Levi just do what she’s implying they just did? After everything he had told me the other day? This is a nightmare.Thankfully, Zeke’s body is hiding my clenched fists because I’m pretty sure my nails are digging in hard enough to make me bleed.
