‘We should trial the name with a focus group?’ Britney said. ‘That would be best practice.’

Fee turned to the laptop again, then back to Britney. ‘No need. I love it.’ She grinned widely. ‘Can I have the taglines and media approach on my desk for three?’

Britney fumed. ‘Sure.’

‘Come on, Ella.’ Fee walked towards the door, holding it open for me to follow.

Once out in the hallway, I turned to her and laughed.

‘That was amazing, thank you.’ I paused, not sure how much solidarity I could assume. ‘But I thought Britney was about to combust!’

Fee tilted her head at me. ‘She knows all too well not to rattle me! She’ll calm down and come to my office kissing ass by the end of the day. Stars and Swipes, eh? I love it. How did you come up with that?’

I felt my cheeks heat up and immediately lowered my head. ‘It was something Jimmy said.’

Fee kept her eyes on me. ‘Interesting!’

We headed down to her office and spent the rest of the afternoon preparing for tomorrow’s interview, deciding on the perfect outfits for our photo shoot and brainstorming strategies for making sure Stars and Swipes would soon be trending.

Chapter Nineteen

Katy

Katy was having the perfect first day with her new pal Tanya. She immediately fell in love with Tanya’s warm, bubbly nature, which was just as happily infectious as her own.

In the morning, the pair had spoken in depth about the essentials women needed to know when dating someone, from manners and values to job prospects and education. They then targeted more superficial elements, such as general attractiveness, height and various generic pros and cons. They even considered penis size, which prompted Katy to overshare her disappointing micro-penis experience after her ex had promised her Big Foot’s dick.

Together, the women created a list and headed out to the city’s gyms and cafés, asking the public what they would like to know when considering a potential partner. At around one o’clock, they had just entered a small coffee shop uptown for a rest and to regroup.

As Tanya headed to the counter to order them both a drink, Katy pulled out her phone. A message appeared on her screen.

Unknown:I know what you did!

Immediately, Katy’s heart began pounding. She glanced at the people around her. Everyone seemed to be going about their business, drinking overpriced coffee and chatting, or working on laptops. What the fuck? She quickly took a screenshot of the text and forwarded it to the group chat.

Katy:I have just got this from an unknown number??

Zola typing .?.?.

Ella:What did you do? X

Zola:It will be a scam, babe. Don’t stress xx

Katy:You serious, Ella???

Zola:It will be a scam. No one knows about the other thing. Don’t worry fs xx

Tanya returned to the table and sat down with a matcha for Katy and a ginger shot for herself.

‘We did great work today.’ She grinned.

‘Yeah! Everyone was so forthcoming! I feel like we got loads of really useful information out of them.’ Katy sipped on her matcha, still feeling unsettled.

‘Aren’t they in Glasgow?’ Tanya asked.

‘Hmm? What? I’m sorry.’ Katy was caught up rereading the strange message.

‘Aren’t people forthcoming in Glasgow? When you stop them in the street for info?’
